I Think I Saw a Puddy Cat

I did! I did!

I'm pleased to introduce Frankie! He's eight weeks old (today) and we just brought him home Saturday morning. He's a lively little fellow, but quite loveable and a joy to this house. When he's not nipping at my fingers or climbing up my legs, he likes to drape himself across my lap, a la "Hobbes." It's been quite a long time since we've had a cat. Six years, to be precise. Ralph & Bob (misnamed, as they were both female!) were our first, followed by Henry & Charlie. It's quite lovely to have a four-legged friend about the house again.

  1. Oh no. I'm imagining political debates with my in-laws regressing to debates about whether Ping or Frankie is the better the cat :) He's a cutie though.

I'm jealous. I want a kitten, but we have an old cranky siamese who may not sign on to the deal. Congrats and enjoy!

  8. Aren't you glad you combined your photographs with your book blog? I am! What a sweet kitty, and cats aren't even my favorite pet. Yours, however, would easily be welcome in my home. I can see why you picked him up. I liked the picture of him draped across your books; apparently you two will be spending a lot of quality time together!

  13. Kitty!!!! I love that first picture. "Draped" kittens have that certain charm. Enjoy your new kitty!

  14. I just love how cats put their two front paws together so it looks like they are wearing a fur muff. Frankie is a cutie.

  15. Oh, Les, I am so, so happy you two got a kitty. He will be a lovely addition to your home. I love cats just as I love dogs. I've never been part of the debate of which is better. They are each wonderful, loving companions. I look forward to a new photo at least each week. They grow so quickly. Thank you for introducing him to us.

  17. What a cutie, Les. I love marmelade kitties but have never had one--a regal orange Maine coon who lived to a ripe old age of 23, torties, midnight black, and now just one fluffy grey kitty who lets us live with her. Good luck with Frankie!

  18. Awwwww, Les, he is the cutest! You make me want to get a kitty for our family now! Have fun with the little guy!

  19. Frankie thanks all of you for the warm welcome! We think he's pretty darned cute and a lot of fun. I'm glad we decided to get him in the winter. If it were summer, I'd be in shorts and those sharp kitten claws would really hurt as he tries to climb up my legs as I'm sitting here at my computer! I forgive him of that, though, as he's a great footwarmer on these cold, winter nights (he likes to sleep under the covers at the foot of bed - I don't know how he breathes!).

Heather - I still have my cold, but am not nearly as miserable as I was this past weekend. The cough is hanging on with me, too, though.

Les,we are a doggy house, but that doesn't stop me thinking Frankie is utterly sweet! I'll be back for another look later when Harriet (who would very much like a kitten) comes home from school.

Oh my gosh he's beautiful!! I would so love to have another kitty, but we have two Jack Russell Terriers. I'm not sure a kitty would like just such an environment too much...

  22. How precious is he (or you hope it's a he, right?) A new kitty is better than watching TV. . . Enjoy your new addition!

  24. I think it's a bit ironic that of all my recent posts, Frankie's introduction has yielded the most comments next to my review for The Book Thief! Quite the popular little fellow. :)

Ooohhh LOL He's exactly the same colors as my Maxx was! Maybe he's spending one of his nine lives with you now :) Enjoy!

  26. These pictures make me almost succumb to the temptation to bring another kitten into the house. But I will be strong. I can't make myself face house-training again. I just miss having a cat about.

  27. Onefinetabby - He's not quite as orange as I had envisioned when I spoke to the woman giving him away, but he's still quite the handsome little fellow.

Framed - We were very lucky. He was almost 8 weeks old when we brought him home and he was already litter-trained. Now to teach him not to be quite so rambunctious in the early morning hours. That's when he tends to playfully bite.

Oh my goodness, he is sooooo cute! We have been debating about breaking our 'cats can't outnumber the humans' rule and bringing a third cat home. Seeing these photos definitely make me want another kitty!

  29. I've never had more than two at a time, but I think lil' Frankie is enough for us right now. He's into a "biting-the-hand-that-feeds-him" stage right now (he's playing, but it's a little annoying at 6 am!) and I don't think I could handle two biters (or the double-duty litter box cleaning!).
