    1. Thanks, Diane. This is the time of year I love in my garden. Everything looks healthy and colorful. Check with me in another 4-6 weeks. It won't be quite as lovely, I'm afraid.

    1. Thanks, Kathy. The backyard has come along so nicely, but now I need to focus on the front flower beds. I'm feeling the need for more color out there. We took out a tree, so there won't be as much shade (which is good and bad).

    1. Thanks, Kelly. These were all taken with my phone camera. I was too lazy to go inside and get my digital camera. I'm happy these turned out as nicely as they did!

  4. Beautiful! I'm a gardening idiot so this kind of beauty would never happen in my yard. The lighting on the photo of the hydrangea is particularly beautiful.

    1. I'm pretty much a gardening idiot, too! It's a lot of trial and error and fingers crossed for happy, healthy plants that can survive our hot, windy summers.

I was happy these pictures turned out so well. They were all shot with my phone camera!

  6. I imagine your garden must be quite the place to hang out and relax. So beautiful!! I didn't plant ANYTHING this year because of the terrible summer we had last year and it's actually not been bad so far. Wishing I would have done a bit more but now I'm not in the mood. ;) I'll just enjoy yours...

    1. We spend a lot of time on the deck, enjoying the garden and bird at the feeders. That is, until the mosquitoes start to bite!

  7. No yellow here yet, except for buttercups in the fields. We are all purple and pink. Iris, lupin, aquilegia, baptisia australis, roses and peonies. Glorious, glorious June!!

    1. I love lupin and baptisia australis! I had lupin when we lived on the acreage, so I know it can grow here. I need to see if the nursery has it this fall, so I can plant some in my shade garden. Not sure about the baptisia australis, though. I think I saw it one year in a garden along the bike trail

  8. Lavender-pink one, hot pink one, fuschia ones, and yellow: no matter what they're called officially, they are beautiful. You and your green thumb; I'll forever be in awe. Remember what my husband said when I asked him what flowers would be best for my desk? ("Silk".) Ha ha ha.

I'm really wanting to read Gone Girl which I notice in your sidebar. I've downloaded the sample on my nook.

It's too hot for cycling around here in stupid Illinois. I'm cleaning. Comforting my parents as my brother moves to Florida on Monday. Wondering if I should write thank you notes for the thank you gifts I got from my students. I mean, at what point do you end the thank you cycle?

    1. Aw, thanks Meredith. This has been an exceptional year for gorgeous blossoms in my garden. But we hit 95 today (with terrible humidity) so things are looking a little droopy.

I'm very far behind with my blog-hopping, so I'm not sure if you're reading Gone Girl yet or not. I think you'll enjoy it!

It was miserably hot & humid today for the Lincoln Trail Trek. My friends and I rode the 40 mile route (there's a 10, 20, 30 and 40 mile loop) and it was already humid when we headed out at 7:50 am. We finished just after 11:30 and it was over 90 and extremely humid. My energy (and patience) were zapped for the remainder of the day. At least it wasn't windy. Sure wish you and I could ride together. Maybe someday I'll come visit and bring my bike along!

Thank you notes for thank you gifts? I don't think that's necessary, but then again, I sent out thank you notes for all the condolence cards we received. That seemed a bit odd, but I wanted to acknowledge the kindness shown to us.

Off to get another glass of ice water. Have a good week!
