Gratitude Lately

Lately, I've been thankful for

Friday mornings
 and beautiful commutes

A host, of golden daffodils...
Fluttering, dancing in the breeze

Full tires, smooth trails
and the wind at my back

A happy girl who reminds me
to slow down and enjoy our walks

Friday night decisions
 and dining with friends
 at a neighborhood bistro

Porch sitting
and neighbors who share
 their shady trees

Local author events

And, bare trees that allow
 beautiful sunsets to peek through.

Happy Sunday, friends!
What are you grateful for this week?

    1. Thanks, Andi. I really enjoy looking back on my week and finding all the good things that appear in my photos. I may use these posts to create a gratitude book. Thanks for your nice words.

  2. I love when the daffodils come out in the springtime! They're definitely among my favorite flowers. Your porch looks like a lovely place to read!

As for me, I'm grateful for a good group of friends and a murder mystery themed birthday party that went on well into the night, where there were lots of laughs and I was shaken out of the major funk I'd been in all week. =D

    1. I love daffodils, too... even more than tulips, which are beautiful but never last nearly long enough.

We love our porch! We have 4 rocking chairs and we love to sit and watch the neighbors stroll by with their children or dogs. It's a great place to sit and read or relax.

I'm glad you had a good evening with friends. Nothing like good friends to bring one out of a funk.

      Have a good week, Megan!

  3. It sounds like you have great weekends! I miss having a dog - there's nothing better than the way they greet you when you come home.

    1. I've started tacking some of my regular chores during the week, so I can spend more time enjoying the weekends. The past few weeks have been especially wonderful and relaxing. This past Sunday, we had a fire in our fire pit and had neighbors over for burgers and birthday cake. It was a lovely evening.

Yes, dogs are the best. I'm reading A Dog's Purpose and it's very insightful. I do so love my Annie-Dog.

  4. I have been enjoying sunsets through our bare trees, also! Spring is very slow to arrive here as well. I am loving watching spring slowly bloom, and taking long walks now that the snow is melted. Thank you for a lovely post and pictures, Les!

    1. Sunsets (and sunrises) are lovely here, but not like those on the ocean. We have so many trees in our neighborhood that many nights I think I should drive out to the countryside to take some photos that are less obscured. Maybe later this summer when the sun goes down around 8 or 8:30.

Aren't you glad the snow has finally melted? I enjoy it every now and then, but I'm so happy to finally be in shorts and sandals. :)

    1. Thank you, Meredith. I'm always surprised that my camera is capable of taking such nice photos. And, yes. I've been enjoying my weekends. It's taken me many, many years to finally figure out that I should do some of my chores during the week so I can spend more time relaxing on the weekend.

  6. p.s. I see your listening to Will Shwalbe's book. I read it a few months ago, and enjoyed it for the most part. But, it got a little long for me...maybe the subject is just too sad even though it's about sharing literature with a very brave mother.

    1. Funny thing about Schwalbe's book. I started listening to the audio a year or so ago when the book first came out. I decided to set it aside and wait and read the print edition so I could take notes. Recently, I decided to just go ahead and listen and jot my notes down in a notebook. I'm now more than halfway in and have decided to stop the audio and read the print version. I wonder if I'll ever get this book read! :)
