Paris in July 2014

It's that time of year! Paris in July is celebrating its 5th year and I have my stack ready to go. I decided to be a bit more realistic than I've been with other challenges and limited myself to three new books, one re-read and one that I'm currently reading (and almost to the halfway mark). It would be so easy to find more for this pile, but let's be serious. :) There are only 31 days in the month and my granddaughter will be here for two of those weeks. I'll be lucky to finish the Doerr novel!

  1. Have fun! Can't wait to see what you have to say about the Anthony Doerr. I have that on my wish list (and still haven't read his first book).

    1. I'm really enjoying the Doerr novel, Nancy. I just need to spend a big chunk of time with it rather than the 10-15 minutes I carve out of my day before falling asleep!

  2. Les, I put All the Light We Cannot See on hold at our library. I should easily have it by January. ;)

As for your books, you've found interest ones that are unfamiliar to me. How wonderful to read of Paris with you and travel there at least vicariously.

    1. Ha! Well, if I get it reviewed before January, you can have my ARC! :)

I still have hopes for a trip to France or Italy with you and Nancy!

  4. I bought That Part Was True the other day. I hope to get to it this month, but I don't know that I will. Paris Letters is definitely on my wish list- I've not heard of your other two before. I'll be looking forward to hearing more about them.

  5. The Julia Child book is delightful - enjoy! I keep hearing wonderful things about All the Light We Cannot See.

My plans for Paris in July are very modest... just The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz and possibly Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises.

    1. I actually read the Julia Child book last year! I never got around to reviewing it, so I decided to re-read it for this challenge. Might be fun to do a buddy read with my granddaughter since she loves to cook and is arriving today for her two-week visit!

I was really tempted to buy a copy of The Sweet Life in Paris to add to my stack, but I knew I wouldn't even finish everything I already owned, so I stopped myself and made a mental note to get it next year.

  6. Hi Les, It's going to be a tough month for me - as I wander around all the participants posts and discover new french things I want to do/read. You've just put something else on my list - Bon Appetite looks right up my ally at the moment. Thanks... I'll look forward to your reviews and offerings.

    1. Hello, Tamara. As I mentioned above in another comment, I've already read Bon Appetite and it is quite delightful! I'm eager to read it a second time (and review it!) with my granddaughter who turns 12 at the end of the month. The illustrations are wonderful! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    1. Yes, well... we shall see if I actually get them all read. I love to make lists and put together stacks to read. Just need more time in my day to actually do so.

      Thanks for visiting!
