But let others make that choice for themselves. Simple as that. Thanks for visiting my blog.Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-74519303175441419032011-09-29T09:51:51.480-07:002011-09-29T09:51:51.480-07:00Obviously there are a lot I don't know and cou...Obviously there are a lot I don't know and couldn't comment upon but apart from thinking that the principle of censorship is WRONG, I am amazed at some of the books on the list. Thanks!

Kay Guest - I'll check it out. Glad you were inspired. :)

Megan - It sounds like you read a lot of the same books that my daughter did when she was growing up. (She'll be 28 this year.) I'll have to try some of the books you mentioned.

Jill - It does, doesn't it? I'm pretty sure I couldn't read all of them. There are some that just don't appeal to me.

Nancy - I think Bridge to Terabithia is one that my daughter read and enjoyed. Kay mentioned Speak, too, so I'll definitely have to give that one a try. Not so sure about Slaughterhouse Five.

And I'm baffled, too...

Kathy - Isn't A Prayer for Owen Meany one of the best books?! I was disappointed with the movie (Simon Birch), though. I need to try another by Irving. Maybe Cider House Rules...

Nan - Thanks for the link. I've got it bookmarked now for future reference.

Kailana - I keep looking at The Perks of Being a Wallflower when I come across it at work. We have read a lot of the same banned books, otherwise. The Things They Carried is, of course, a favorite. And, To Kill a Mockingbird. Oh, heck, I could go on. There are a lot of wonderful books that have been challenged. Most tend to baffle me; some I understand why they might offend, but I still don't think they should be banned.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-16136565224294771272011-09-24T14:55:24.289-07:002011-09-24T14:55:24.289-07:00It feels like a challenge...It feels like a challenge...My Kids' Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07568872428132909098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-67860885227334353692011-09-24T09:54:02.846-07:002011-09-24T09:54:02.846-07:00I read and loved so many of these books growing up...I read and loved so many of these books growing up that I can't imagine not having had them around. My Brother Sam is Dead, Bridge to Terabithia, The Face on the Milk Carton, The Giver, Summer of My German Soldier, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry - all favorites from my childhood/young adulthood that I have already or would gladly re-read. That's not even counting the favorites I've read as an adult like Snow Falling on Cedars and Fat Kid Rules the World, and the Harry Potter books, and I could go on and on.Meganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07751131767729086158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-7533300793620407912011-09-24T09:02:28.362-07:002011-09-24T09:02:28.362-07:00Hey Lesley!

I encouraged my book group to read it, even though they weren't really excited about reading a YA book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
