Didn't love it, but thought it was very good and entertaining.

Kay - Yeah, I was thinking about you as I read the book. I think it'd be an interesting book club selection, especially if any other members are coping with a parent afflicted with this disease. I'm glad you and your mom have a support group. I'm a big fan of those for any kind of struggle. It helps to simply hear someone else voice your thoughts and fears, validating what you are going through.

Sassymonkey - Hey! Long time no see!! Thanks for popping in. Glad you enjoyed the review and links. I find the whole thing quite fascinating, but then I've always been interested in anything centered around WWII.

JoAnn - Thank you! I'll pop over and visit your blog. Beware. They become quite addictive.

Nat - I think this might be one you'd enjoy. Glad you enjoyed the review.

Teddy Rose - Yep, I agree. It could've been a little more polished. Still, I thought it was quite good.

Booklogged - Aw, thanks. Funny how some books inspire a long review while others (like my most recent) barely get a paragraph. They were both enjoyable, but this one had a bit more meat to it, which made it easier to review.Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-37839152521112316692008-11-06T10:41:00.000-08:002008-11-06T10:41:00.000-08:00I enjoyed reading your review and it's bringing ba...I enjoyed reading your review and it's bringing back to my memory this book. I did enjoy it and saw a lot of promise from Debra Dean. I just didn't think it was developed enough. Like Marg, I would have liked more about the seige. Don't think our library has enough copies but it might work for the month that I have members select from 3 or so books to read. Think I will do that with some that are so good, but not enough copies for everyone.

Of course, the Alzheimer connection is what got me hooked. I have the book here to read myself. It's so hard to lose them bit by bit. It just gnaws at your insides. However, there is always a bright side. Mom and I attend a support group and are thankful that there are situations with the courts that we have not had to face.

Thanks for a great review!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-79224191856476798332008-11-01T15:48:00.000-07:002008-11-01T15:48:00.000-07:00I read this book a couple of years ago. And how exciting that you'll be talking with the author. I have a question you could ask. As I read through the quotes about the seige on the Hermitage website, I noticed that several (quotes) sounded like some of the dialogue (or descriptive detail) in Dean's book. Almost verbatim! Am I correct or am I just imagining the similarities?Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-66952960284276646792008-11-01T14:23:00.000-07:002008-11-01T14:23:00.000-07:00Oh, good!
