I don't miss all the hassles associated with them, but I do miss sitting and chatting with friends about the books. Thank goodness for this blogging community!

Nan - I agree about Unbroken. I'm not sure how much one could discuss after talking about what a horrible ordeal those young men endured. I loved Guernsey, but didn't care too much for SK.Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-91972952301717498422011-11-10T10:56:55.012-08:002011-11-10T10:56:55.012-08:00I'm surprised with some of those choices, like...I'm surprised with some of those choices, like the first one. Although, I sort of feel like all of the book blogging community is one big book club. :)Andihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05220718933942181809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-9027289817470780282011-11-10T03:56:48.715-08:002011-11-10T03:56:48.715-08:00Kathy - Cutting For Stone is fabulous. It's a chunkster, but I didn't want it to end.

JoAnn - I love lists like this, too. :) I thought The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet was quite good, but thinking back on it now, it's not one I'd consider reading again. The Hunger Games was addictive and extremely intense. I loved it, but didn't care for the second in the series (Catching Fire). I only read a chapter or two of the third (and last) book (Mocking Jay). I plan to watch the movie, though!

I've heard nothing but great things about Henrietta Lacks and The Paris Wife, so I'll get to those in 2012. Always nice to kick-off the New Year with some winners. :)

Pam - No! And I don't know why. Too many other books vying for my attention? I'll read it in another month or two.

Lola - Hmmm, now you've got me curious about The Marriage Plot. Without giving any away spoilers, why do you think it wouldn't be a hit with your club? Sometimes a book that divides opinions is perfect for a discussion.

Kailana - As I mentioned to JoAnn, I've heard nothing but rave reviews for HL. I have a feeling my husband would enjoy it, too, so maybe I'll get a printed copy so we can both read it (rather than an ebook - although I can see if it's one that's lendable).

How are you enjoying The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet?

I think I'll rent Sarah's Key just to see if it's any better than the book. I know a lot of readers loved the book. Sadly, it just didn't impress me.

Staci - Four's not bad! Isn't it nice to know that the others have been favorites among so many readers?Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-66948531400068019722011-11-09T15:28:22.458-08:002011-11-09T15:28:22.458-08:00I've only read 4 from this list...but almost a...I've only read 4 from this list...but almost all of them are/and or have been on my TBR list!!Stacihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07600979915661464945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-86199036114691834092011-11-09T08:30:32.180-08:002011-11-09T08:30:32.180-08:00I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed The I...I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. It was really interesting and well-written! I really need to get around to Unbroken and I actually started Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet last night.

That's too bad you didn't really like Sarah's Key. I was curious about the movie, but it didn't play here.. I considered mentioning The Marriage Plot as a possible choice for this month but I am glad I didn't, because although I liked it, I doubt it would have been a hit with my book club.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-85626218119514925622011-11-09T05:46:14.401-08:002011-11-09T05:46:14.401-08:00You haven't read The Paris Wife?!!You haven't read The Paris Wife?!!pamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02651944290195111894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-67421926100885121672011-11-09T04:59:52.292-08:002011-11-09T04:59:52.292-08:00I love lists like this! The rising stars are definitely on my radar though.

Henrietta Lacks and The Paris Wife were both audiobooks for me - HeLa a favorite of 2010 and The Paris Wife a perfect follow-up to A Moveable Feast.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-82881860706968514042011-11-09T04:25:55.275-08:002011-11-09T04:25:55.275-08:00My book club is reading Cutting for Stone right no...My book club is reading Cutting for Stone right now.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.com
