And we got a ton of rain this weekend with more arriving tonight. April showers bring... oh, wait. ;)Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-37418454299599935862012-04-14T09:10:07.391-07:002012-04-14T09:10:07.391-07:00Pretty flowers! Will have to Google Crowley. But I still just can't get over us being at Bass Hall on the same night! It's chilly now and we've had rain, but tomorrow it'll warm up to about 77. That means severe weather threats. This is the time of year when I wear a winter coat to work and come home only to change into shorts. Hello spring. :)

Staci - Thanks! Honestly, I don't do a thing. They just pop up every year and put a smile on my face.

Nan - Nope. No poppies in this yard. I do love 'em, though, so maybe I'll plant some just to throw you off next year. ;)Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-27336998069847612162012-04-12T18:34:38.494-07:002012-04-12T18:34:38.494-07:00Diane - Thanks! Right now the Lily of the Valley are popping up and getting ready to bloom. I love Spring!

Kay - We didn't have tulips or daffodils when I lived in San Diego, so I get very excited EVERY spring (even after 20 years!) when they start to bloom. Some of the color combinations are so pretty. One of my neighbors has the softest pink tulips right next to some that are white. Very soothing to the eye. And there are lots of yards with red & white (Go Big Red!). ;)

Of course, you have bluebonnets, which I love, too.

JoAnn - I like the way the perwinkle is nestled in at the base of the fence, next to the tulips. Isn't spring grand?!

Kathy - Thank you. All of these tulips were in the garden when we bought the house. The first year they appeared was such a pleasant surprise. I really need to add more (and hope that the squirrels leave them alone!).

Andi - Is the Crape Myrtle blooming yet? I remember falling in love with those trees when we first moved to Fort Worth.

Trish - OK. First things first. You were at the JCP headquarters on Friday?! You do know that my daughter works there, don't you? Wouldn't it be a hoot if you actually knew her? She graduated from Crowley H.S. in 2002 and TCU in 2006. She lives in Dallas near Highland Park. I know. The odds of you knowing her are about zip, but it's funny because you're about the same age and live in the same area. Sort of. Oh, and you both went to the Bass Hall on the same night! Small world.

Oh, and no. No poppies. Just tulips. I do love poppies and should plant some. So many flowers, so little time. :)

Nancy - We didn't have them in CA, so it's probably the climate. I think they need a long, hard freeze. I'm surprised they actually bloomed this year, what with our mild winter. We don't have dogs that dig up the bulbs, but the squirrels sure do. This fall, I need to remember to surround my bulbs with netting or plastic baskets (like the kind strawberries come in - or used to come in!) so the squirrels can't get to them. And then I need to surround the plants (as they come up) with chicken wire & stakes so the rabbits don't eat the new growth. I love animals. ;)Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345657431432380804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22415234.post-56738260034069323332012-04-12T09:03:11.916-07:002012-04-12T09:03:11.916-07:00Wow, I just read Trish's question, and I think...Wow, I just read Trish's question, and I think they are probably tulips not poppies.
