Oh, Les! Look like the termite reconstruction my parents had to face this Spring! The woes of being a homeowner...Love the 'cranberry' color on the wall, though. Love. It.
I've been worse than a terrible friend, not coming by at all, and you have all these interesting posts. I promise I'll be by in depth soon, and thank you for your words. Always.
Diane - The mess was really limited to just water in the basement. And we really don't have anything fancy in the way of carpeting. Just the kind that is glued down to the concrete. So it dried out fairly quickly after I used my Mini Bissell to suck up what water was in the carpet. Then I ran the dehumidifier and a couple of fans. Good as new! And now we have a nice new pipe running from the upstairs bathroom down to the basement. Now to get the drywall repaired and the room (or at least that wall!) repainted. I love the color, too, so we'll be sticking with it when we repaint.
Bellezza - Ah, don't even say the "T" word! That has always been one of my worries (right along with water issues and carpenter ants). As far as I know, we don't have any problems with termites. Your poor parents! What a nightmare that must've been. Yes, the joys of homeownership. I'm reading for a luxury condo downtown, thank you very much. :) And, yes. I love my walls, too. The cranberry looks so pretty with all the white woodwork.
Please don't apologize for being busy! I understand and know you'll visit my blog when you have more time. Those posts aren't going anywhere and I love hearing your comments no matter how belated they are.
You and your husband have been in my thoughts this past week. I am so very sorry about his aunt. Hugs to both of you.
Kailana - Nothing a lot of money can't solve! ;) Not so sure about the ease, though. You'd have to ask my plumber who was here for a couple of days.
Kathy - See my note above to Diane. It wasn't terrible...
JoAnn - Oh, yes. I have the worst luck when it comes to water issues in a house!
I can only semi-relate, but certainly feel your pain. We had a leaky pike in our upstairs master bathroom that ruined our foyer ceiling. :( Glad to hear that you were able to fix it. :)
Joy - Sorry to hear you had plumbing problems, too. We still need to get the drywall repaired and painted, but at least the new pipe is in and NOT leaking! :)
What a mess that must have been! I love the color of your walls.

ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope the damage isn't too bad.
