Blogiversary
Thanks to my blogging friend Andi, I was reminded of my own blogiversary which was last week (February 13th). I have been writing about my favorite (and not so favorite) books for 11 years! Every so often I decide to close up shop and put this blog to rest, but I can never stay away for very long, so I hope to continue with this little community of mine for many more years. Thank you all for visiting and leaving comments. I love hearing from each and every one of you.

Happy Blogversary! And how many years have we been chatting back and forth. I want to say that we coming up on 20. Wasn't it in 1997? Or maybe 1998. Anyway, it's sure been fun.
ReplyDeleteBefore 1998, I think, because I came to see you in April 1998, and I must have known you a while before that.
DeleteKay & Nan,
DeleteI found an old email in a box that I've decided to save since we always seem to ask ourselves when we first met online. The email is to my mom and I wrote:
"I found a book club on theInternet that I'm having fun lurking in. It's in Books.com and it's a group that discusses the books that Oprah has chosen for her reading club. But the group also discusses other books and I've found it interesting."
The email is dated September 22, 1997.
Wow! That was only a few months after we moved back to Austin from Portland. We'll have 20 years this fall!
DeleteAnd then you and I met f2f in Austin sometime in 1999, I believe, Kay. Amy had a cheer competition, so it had to be '98 or '99. The gathering in Cleveland was summer of '98.
DeleteHappy blogiversary, Les! I'm so glad to know you through your blogs and looking forward to sometime meeting you in person!
ReplyDeleteI so envy you two going to be living in the same state!
DeleteRobin, thanks so much! I look forward to meeting you someday, too. You too, Nan! :)
DeleteHappy Blogversary, number 11! Good for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay G. Time flies!
DeleteI know what you mean about being tempted to close up shop and yet...it seems a silly thing to do after so many years, so many books, so much of oneself invested. I think giving oneself permission to post as one likes is the ticket, and I so like what you post. I have for eleven years. Much love to you, Lesley.
ReplyDeleteMeredith, I doubt I'll ever quit this hobby of mine. It brings me so much pleasure, especially now that I've figured out how to pace myself and not worry if I'm posting reviews for books I read last summer. ;)
DeleteLove to you, too!
Happy Blogiversary!! I am somewhere in the 11 range. Maybe this year is 12. I can never remember. lol I have enjoyed visiting your blog over the years!
ReplyDeleteKelly, isn't it amazing that we've been doing this for so many years?! Crazy! Thanks for you nice words and for being such a dedicated visitor to my site. xo
DeleteWow, 11 years of blogging is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I can't quite believe it's been 11 years... So many changes in life since I first began. Thanks so much for being just a good friend!
Delete*such a good friend.
DeleteI sometimes long for the days before social media erupted, when there were 'just' blogs, and before that email groups. I am happy whenever you post here, whether with pictures or travels or books. I look forward to your new beginnings coming up soon.
ReplyDeleteNan, I agree. I do enjoy all the pictures on Instagram, though. Thank you for all the years of friendship (see my note in Kay's comment) and support, through good times and bad... Rod & I hope to someday get a chance to come visit you and Tom. The open road is calling!
DeleteCongratulations, Les! So glad I started reading your blog all those years ago... you and Nan inspired me to start blogging, too. It's always a pleasure to see your posts in my feed. Looking forward to many more years of Prairie Horizons, or will you rename when you move? ;-)
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, thanks for your kind words! Yes, I should probably rename this blog when I move. Maybe I'll ask for suggestions from my readers. :)
DeleteCONGRATS Les, that is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane. I can't believe I've been doing this for so many years!
DeleteHappy Bloggiversary! That is such an accomplishment and I'm so glad you are still blogging. I wish you many more!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Iliana! I can't believe how the years have flown. I'm eager to settle into life in Oregon and start sharing photos and stories about our life there.
DeleteHappy Blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! Hope you're enjoying this gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Feels like summer!
