A Month in Summary - November 2024

Little Whale Cove

November 2024

Whoa! How can it be December?! November flew by, didn't it? We got home from Northern California on the 5th, the same day that my husband's book came out, (which was the only good thing about that day), celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary the following day, had two successful events for Rod's new book, and enjoyed Thanksgiving with family and friends. I'm ready for a nap!

I'm surprised with such a full calendar, I was able to finish six books, but it helps that I was close to the finish with two of those. I participated (unofficially) in the Nonfiction November reading challenge, which is always a good way to focus on some of the books on my shelves. My favorites were three memoirs, each by a new-to-me author. If you enjoy memoirs, be sure to take a look at my reviews for those in the top row of the collage.

Books Read (click on the title for my review):

The Wild Trees by Richard Preston (3.5/5)

Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe (2/5)

Movies & TV Series:

Collision - An older PBS series starring Douglas Henshall from Shetland. Quite good.

Shrinking (Season 2) - Love this series, in spite of a few silly episodes.

White Collar - Meh. The first two episodes were fun, but the we lost interest and quit after the fifth episode.

The Long Shadow - Based on a true story, this was too long and quite dark.

The Morning Show (Season 2) - I started watching the first season a couple of weeks ago and am addicted to this show. I prefer to watch one episode of a show every day or so, but this one had me binging with three to four in a single day.

Celebrating 36 years!

I'm still posting the occasional blog entry about our trip to Canada in 2023, and hope to finish up so I can begin sharing photos from our trips to Vancouver Island and the Tetons.

  1. Well, that was a busy month! Happy anniversary to you two! Congratulations to Rod on the publication of his book (I bought it and am looking forward to starting it soon)! And I don’t know how you were able to finish that many books in such a short, busy month! Well done!

    1. Thanks, Robin! Yes, I was surprised I was able to read so many books, too. Admittedly, the memoirs weren't super long. Plus, they are very readable, so I zipped through them. Hope you enjoy Rod's book. Maybe we'll see you at one of his signings!

  5. Happy 36 years!!! Next year we will have 31! I am close behind you guys! I haven't traveled anywhere. I am really not a big travel person which is why I like when you document your travels! We take road trips but with our senior pup real travel isn't possible. I don't miss it.

    1. Thanks, Ti! We enjoy our RV travels. Always nice to sleep in our own bed, have our coffee ready in the morning, camp near rivers/lakes/mountains, etc. Much better than hotels!

    1. JoAnn, I surprised I read so much, especially since I watched a lot of The Morning Show when I could have been reading! Happy belated anniversary to you guys, too. Time flies, doesn't it?

  7. Happy anniversary! I read about the earthquake and tsunami warning in northern California and wondered if that extended to your area. It looks like all is well so far though.

I had forgotten about The Morning Show. We have Apple TV and I want to watch that but we're very slow show watchers. Well, I am and I hold my husband back. It takes us forever to get through something. I haven't made up my mind if I want to try Shrinking yet.

I love all your pictures, especially your blog photo of the Tetons! When we went, it was so cloudy we couldn't even see the mountains until the afternoon.

    1. Thanks, Jen! Yep, no worries here with the earthquake/tsunami situation, thank goodness. I'm usually a slow TV watcher, too, but I got so sucked into The Morning Show that I wound up watching 2-3 episodes every evening. Now that I'm finished with that, I'm getting back to Shrinking, which is good, but not as good as TMS. Thanks for your nice words about my photos from the Tetons. It was such a great trip. I'll start posting more about it after the holidays.

  8. Did I not get to this post? You two are photogenic and always take good photos together. I liked Season 1 of The Morning Show best but we've watched all the seasons. Apparently there will be a 4th season coming. You had a good reading month. Happy December.
