Book Haul

Now that we're into February, I had better start sharing some of the posts I drafted at the beginning of the year. Yikes, the days are going by far too quickly!

I received the above books for Christmas. Three were purchased with a gift card and the other three were under the tree. Let's hope they don't sit on my top shelf for the entire year!

Which should I read first? I'm leaning toward Theo of Golden since it's been getting such rave reviews. Bel Canto will be a re-read, but this time I'll have Patchett's annotation, which should be enlightening.

  1. Nice book haul, Les! I've heard good things about several of these and read Bel Canto a long time ago (I think). Enjoy whichever one you decide to start with!

    1. It's been about that long since I read it too, Kay. 2004. A lifetime ago!

  3. I have Buckeye on my shelf, too. I guess I'm just waiting for the right moment. But this year I keep picking up huge books. Right now I'm reading three books over five hundred pages!

    1. Deb, I should probably hold of on Buckeye until later this fall. My book group is discussing it in November. If I read it now, I'll have to read it again since I don't retain details for book talks that far off! Like you, I'm reading big books, too. Winds of War and The Emperor of All Maladies. I have a shorter book going so I don't get too bogged down with those huge books.

    1. Helen, isn't Bel Canto a great novel?! I'll probably start with it or Theo of Golden. Need to wait on Buckeye since we're discussing it in November.
