Quit on 5/19/06
Rating: DNF (Did Not Finish)I read several pages, but couldn't get interested. Skimmed ahead quite a bit (I almost never do this!) but remained unimpressed. I don't mind stream-of-conscious writing, so that wasn't the problem. I just wasn't interested in the main character or the storyline.
I was so surprised to see this book noted. I was wondering about renting it from Recorded Books because I just saw the movie of his other book, Everything is Illuminated, which I liked so much. I will be so interested in why you quit it.

ReplyDeleteI, too, enjoyed the film of his other book (which I hadn't read), so that's what inspired me to give this one a try when I saw it on the library shelf.
ReplyDeleteIt's written in stream-of-consciousness from the viewpoint of a young boy (10-years-old, I think) and I simply wasn't in the mood for that particular style or, really, even the subject matter.
I haven't been able to get into Foer at all so far..his first or second book. Glad it's not just me!
ReplyDeleteAndi,
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Everything is Illuminated? I thought it was quite good, in a strange sort of way. Not your typical Hollywood movie!
