  2. Les ~ I just recommended FIFTY ACRES AND A POODLE to a bookclub. I don't know if it will be chosen, if not, I may read it for my "L" author. Glad to read that it's a Top 10 for you!

I really enjoyed the PJ Tracy books, too!

One of these days I will do a Thursday Thirteen. I just keep thinking it's too much work for me to "think" about a list.

Ooooooohhhhhhhh...OKAY, I'll do an easy one, one that doesn't require much thinking. Come for a visit this evening (giving myself plenty of time) to see it...please. <--- I did that so that I am now committed to doing it today. YIKES! What was I thinking? I need to push publish before I backspace this entire post. Gotta go.

I love A Prayer for Owen Meany. Seems like that's either a book people hate or love. No in between. Anyway, I'm going to look into these P.J. Tracy books now :)

Hah, me neither, tanabata! I'll have to remedy that.

  6. Nat & Lesley - Hope you enjoy the upcoming reviews and find something that piques your interest.

Joy - Hope you enjoy Fifty Acres and A Poodle. It's full of great anecdotes that will make you laugh out-loud. BTW, I'm glad you did a Thursday Thirteen. Like you, I keep adding to my TBR list, thanks to all my book buddies.

Lee - You mean to tell me you STILL haven't read any of the PJ Tracy books?! I really think you'll enjoy them. The only one on your list that I finished is The Glass Castle. Tried to get into The Tender Bar, but the timing may have been wrong. I still want to read The History of Love. Had it from the library and didn't get to it in time. It's still on my list, though.

Iliana - I loved A Prayer for Owen Meany both times I read; maybe even more so the second time around. I may have laughed more the first time, especially when Owen was young. There are some hysterical scenes in the book. Of course, the movie adaptation was a bust, imho.

  7. I haven't read any of these books but I've got some on my piles, so I'm really glad to see you enjoyed them.

I particularly need to get around to reading Owen Meany. I've had it forever but I think the novel intimidates me because I remember the detail in Cider House Rules was just a bit too much when I tried it (although I enjoyed what I read and want to get back to it one day; sometimes I have to go for light reads for a while).

  8. Nancy - I've had The Cider House Rules in my stacks ever since I saw (and loved) the movie. I really want to read it, especially since I loved A Prayer for Owen Meany and haven't read anything else by Irving.
