Wintertime Supper

December is such a hectic month and there are many nights I simply don't feel like cooking or going out (or in this case, I had made Nordic Potato Dill Soup from a recipe I'd used once before, but this time around it simply didn't look appetizing when it came time to eat!). I try to keep a quart of buttermilk in the 'frig for nights such as these. There's something comforting about having breakfast for dinner, don't you think? Just say "No" to Bisquick and go here for Rod's delicious pancakes.

And no, I didn't mistake this for my food blog. Just thought I'd tempt you with some comfort food. I do, however, plan to start incorporating more of my daily life and photos in this blog. I'll continue to post recipes over on my Kiss the Cook blog, but most of my nature-type photos will move over here from my gardening blog. I feel the need to simplify and three blogs is a bit much.

I too did the three blog thing for a little while and find that two blogs is a bit easier. Can't wait to see more of your beautiful nature photographs!

  2. I look forward to reading more about your life. It might be easier to gather it all in one spot; I never could manage three blogs AND Christmas cards AND packages to feet-bound friends. By the way, I love pancakes for dinner! YUM!

Good idea, dear Les! Why not bring all of them here, and maybe re-title??
Nan, your pal in simplification :<)

Les, I have taken the liberty of putting a link to your wonderful "Kiss the Cook" blog under the header "Foodies" on my blog, that way, I will find it easier to visit it on a regular basis.

Having said that however, I think your idea of merging some of the blogs is a good one, I've been thinking about doing that with my blogs, too.

A big thanks to Rod for the pancake recipe and I so look forward to seeing your nature photos here!

  6. Stephanie - Thanks! I may slowly bring some of those photos over from my gardening blog. Maybe on a slow book review day. ;)

Bellezza - I knew you'd be in favor of the content change of my book blog. I still haven't convinced my hubby, but he's not real big on change, so I'm not surprised. BTW, I love pancakes or French Toast for dinner. Not a waffle fan, however. You?

Nan - See my comment above to Stephanie. ;) Great idea!

Bybee - Thanks! The pancakes were delicious. It's probably a good thing I didn't double the recipe as I've done in the past. Too easy to over-indulge!

Lotus - I'm flattered. Thank you, dear friend for adding my Kiss the Cook link on your site and for all your kind words. I'll be sure to pass your thanks on to Rod. Let me know if you try the recipe!

Please take pitty on us folk who cannot fend nor cook for themselves. Pics like that only reminds oneself of all the real meals we are missing. the shame.

  10. Andi - Do you make breakfast for dinner year-round? I find that it's pretty much just a winter thing for me.

Danielle - These turned out much nicer than usual. Must've known they were going to be part of a photo shoot! ;)

Nessie - I think you'd be quite surprised to see how easy these are to make.

What was wrong with the potato soup? Was it not good or did it just not tickle your fancy? I love potato soup and would like the recipe if you usually like it (lol)

  12. Janet - It just didn't look very tasty. I tossed the recipe, but I do have a few more potato recipes that I hope to post later (probably after the holidays). Have you seen this one from my archives? It's quite good!

  13. Les, I do make breakfast for dinner year round, but I tend to do it more often in winter. Or I'll make pancakes for dinner more often in winter while I opt for omelettes for the majority of the rest of the year. :)

  14. Sounds like us, Andi. I make pancakes for dinner when it's cold and scrambled eggs with mushrooms, bacon, onions and tomatoes when the weather's warmer. Wonder why that is? They're both hot meals!
