More Snow!
OK. It can stop now. I'm tired of the snow and the cold temps. I'm ready for spring and short sleeve shirts. The static electricity is annoying (one of the negatives of heated seats in my car) and I miss being able to grill outside. We've had three snowfalls in one month, all of which have dumped at least 4-8 inches. This past storm brought 6" of heavy wet snow. Looks pretty from indoors. If it were a bit warmer, I'd head out for a slippery walk on the bike trail, but it's only 23 and since I'm FINALLY over my cold (had it for over 2 weeks!), I better not risk it.
I feel like I've been away from my blog for a long time! Just been taking it easy, curling up with my kitty, sipping tea, trying to get healthy. I have three book reviews to write, as well as a new recipe for my food blog. I'm hoping to get those posted this week.
Oh, and we bought a new SUV! It's a 2006 Nissan Xterra and is quite nice on these snowy days. As much as I love my MiniCooper, it's been a lot of fun driving Rod's new car. Almost makes me want one of my own. Almost.

We just got rain this weekend in Tulsa. Can't say I'm unhappy though, since I didn't get trapped in my house, this time. I was wishing I had another 4x4. My husband wasn't really willing to share.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and enjoy the book. I have really enjoyed the 3 that I've read by her. Including this one!
ReplyDeleteCurling up with Frankie and a book looks like a great way to wait out the snow! Glad you're feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteCould you please, please send some snow our way? There has been hardly any here and my daughter loves to play in the stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Frankie boy. So cute and isn't he just the happiest looking fellow!
ReplyDeleteIt won't surprise you to hear that though I did read Bread Alone, I wasn't so wild about it. :<) But I have a wonderful quote from it: The smell of breaking bread is a proven antidote to depression.
Adrienne - 4x4s sure come in handy when the weather's nasty, although my Mini is front-wheel-drive and seems to handle very well. Must be that low center of gravity.
ReplyDeleteJenclair - I've read all three, too. Just behind with my reviews. I posted one for Isabel's Daughter sometime last year. The other two will be up this week.
Nat - Me, too! I don't mind having colds, but not when they last so long (and the cough this time was terrible).
Stephanie - Gladly! I see we might get more later this week. Sigh. What happened to our mild winter?? At least it's not too bitterly cold (although it was only 17 this morning when we woke up).
Nan - I need to post more pics of Frankie boy. He is a happy little kitty, but is going through a biting stage right now. We're "discussing" it with him and hope he sees our reasoning to be more kind with those who feed and shelter him. ;)
Stay tuned for my review. I hope to get it posted today or tomorrow. I love that quote, too.
It looks so cosy inside your home. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteLes, congratulations on the new SUV! I'll bet it is real nice to drive in the winter months! However, I envy you your MiniCooper, I'd love to drive one some day!
ReplyDeleteles, I am such a Northern girl your beautiful pictures make me want to come visit right now! I've had enough of Florida in January; I really missed the cold, snowy days of winter which always seem to give me "permission" to snuggle up at home. Regarding the car? I like your xterra, but I wouldn't be persuaded to leave your mini cooper either. I "lust" after my mother vw bug convertible, but I'm still paying off my passat. :(
ReplyDeleteKaren - Our house is very cozy. I'm surprised since it's old and has drafty windows. Maybe because it's small, it seems to hold heat inside very well.
ReplyDeleteLotus - Thanks! We love the new SUV, but the Mini is great fun, too. And you know, it's quite affordable. The Mini, that is. I'm one of those people who'd love to have a dozen cars!
Bellezza - You can come visit any time you like (as long as you don't mind sharing a room with a kitten!). Boy, I'd love to spend a few weeks in Florida (or Southern California) right now. I feel the need for some warm sunshine on my face. You know, if I hadn't been able to get the MiniCooper, I would've gone with a convertible VW bug. I think of them as kissing cousins. :)
