Current temp: 79 (F) Whoohooo!
Another gorgeous Sunday, walking in the park.
What did I see?
Shocks of yellow forsythia amidst bare trees and shrubs.
A stream, a small boy and a stick.
Two male cardinals flitting about in tandem.
Happy dogs.
Tired runners (training for the upcoming Lincoln Marathon?)
What did I hear?
An ice cream truck.
A train whistling and rumbling in the distance.
A little girl at the park ("Watch me, Mommy!!")
Church bells ringing at noon.
A choir of birds (chickadees, cardinals and a red-wing blackbird).
The rhythmic patter of running feet.
What did I feel?
The warmth of the sun.
The wind on my face.
Contentment.
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right
and I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter

You're tearing my heart out! I'm still wearing my heavy-duty winter socks and furry winter slippers. It's cold and the wind has been blowing horribly.
ReplyDeleteYour deck looks so relaxing and inviting. I suppose the furniture is all rain-proof?
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how happy I am to see you so bright and cheery! You have brought a smile to my face and I so needed it today. And your oasis looks like a booklovers dream. I would love to curl up there with a good book!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yellow daffodils and sunshine! And I see you've got your Birks on! :P
ReplyDeleteoh yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your oasis.
In the evening we sit out on the aft deck as the sun sets.
There's nothing like it...
I was sitting outside at my mom's house yesterday afternoon and heard an ice cream truck which immediately brought a smile to my face. The little things...
ReplyDeleteBooklogged - Well, if it makes you feel any better, it's cold again. 43 degrees!!! And rainy & windy, too. Brrrrr. I'm glad I didn't take our flannel sheets off our bed. At least it's not snowing!
ReplyDeleteTara - Yep. It's a fake wicker and the cushions are weather resistant. We're still thinking about getting some furniture covers just so it will all last a bit longer.
Heather - Aw, thanks. It feels good to feel happy, ya know? Nothing like a bit of sunshine to brighten one's day. But if you read my first comment, you'll see that it's bitterly cold again. I can handle it, though. My tulips and daffs are blooming, the grass is green and the birds are chirpin'. Summer's just around the corner... All I'll need is a good book, a cocktail and the warmth of the sun and I'll be out on that deck every chance I get.
Nat - Oh, the daffs and tulips are so pretty right now, especially against the green grass. I also have pale purple phlox and periwinkle blooming. Oh, and forsythia (which I didn't photograph this year)! Yep, Birks and white legs. Do I look like a Midwesterner or what?! ;)
Pat - Well, that makes us even, as I LOVE your oasis. Anytime you need someone to come out an boat-sit...
I've been looking back through my pictures from our trip to the San Juan Islands last summer and wishing we were back on a boat!
My Journey Through Reading - Thanks for visiting! I've jumped over and quickly scanned a few of your posts. Welcome to the Blogosphere. I see you and your hubby like to ride motorcycles, too. My husband has a Kawasaki Vulcan. I've been on it 3 times (shhhhh, don't tell my mom!!) I'll be back to visit your blog. Oh, and not to worry. You can add me to your blog list. You don't have to check with me first. :)
I love that what did I hear? What did I see? What did I feel? A wonderful aspect to this post and accompanying pictures. Your oasis looks so inviting! It made me laugh to see 6 walks in 3 days; our Henry will NOT let me read until I've taken him out. He lays by the huge picture window in our living room, next to which I read, and cries! It's very annoying to a non-exerciseaholic like me. But, it's good for us!
ReplyDeleteReading this post was like a big breath of beautiful sweet air that hit the bottom of my lungs. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new furniture! Very chic.
ReplyDeleteBellezza - I got the idea from Nan. She's done something similar in the past.
ReplyDeleteOur oasis is inviting. I just wish it would warm up so we could use it! I walked outside this morning to go to work and didn't grab a jacket. Brrr. It was only 38. We barely hit 50. Definitely not lounging-out-on-the-deck weather!
Yah, well, we're not going to take Miss Annie for 3 walks in one day EVER again. Sure the weather was nice enough, but now she wants to go every time we open the door! ;)
Colleen - Ah, you're more than welcome. I'm glad to know you enjoyed it so well. :)
Hoyden - You have new furniture, too! ;) Hope you enjoy it and get a lot of use out of it. Thanks for taking it off our hands!
I loved this! I recall Mrs Bale singing that same song last spring. :<) None of my outdoor stuff has cushions. The weather is so unpredictable, I'd be bringing them in all the time. Or I wouldn't and they'd be wet. Ah, California in the summertime. I've been watching Brothers & Sisters on dvd (first season) and I can't get over the weather. Oh, yeah, let's have a party. Set tables outside. No wind, no rain. I'm shaking my head.
ReplyDeleteNan - I was a bit hesitant to get this set because of the cushions, but apparently they dry very quickly. I still want to get covers for them so they'll last longer. And, of course, we'll store them in the winter.
