  1. Not an easy day for Rod, and I think you made it a very nice one, Les. Of course I clicked to see what book you are reading!

Nan pretty much said what I was going to say. Hugs to you and Rod both. I keep meaning to read THE SPARROW again.

  6. You look much more comfortable reading than fishing! Glad y'all had a nice day.

  7. I had to see what you were reading, too. Curious minds...

So did you have a fish fry that evening? Looks so pretty there and I'm glad you found a bit of shade for reading.

  8. Looks like it could have been a day for Mother, too.

(In our family, the fisherman's wife is never without her book, either.)

  9. Reading by the lake? Now that's what I call a good time :)

  11. Nan - No, it never is an easy day. Probably one of the most difficult, but we got through it. A friend of ours went fishing with us and it turned out to be quite an enjoyable day, in spite of the lack of fish.

I was frantically trying to finish The Sparrow for my book club meeting the following night!

Kay - Thanks for the hugs, dear friend. It turned out to be a nice afternoon.

I'm getting ready to write my review for The Sparrow. You'll be happy to know it lived up to a second reading!

Laura - Aw, thanks. All we really needed to complete the picture was our dog. Probably too hot for her, though. She's quite spoiled with the air conditioned house.

Terri B. - It was very relaxing. I had considered taking my kayak, but opted to sit and read instead. Next time, however, I hope to get some "boating" time in, as well as fishing and reading.

Bybee - It was a very relaxing afternoon. Even the fish were relaxed. We didn't get a single bite!

Hoyden - I enjoyed both, though. Hope you had fun this weekend! :)

Booklogged - It's a great book! This was my second reading and it was just as good as the first time.

Nope, no fish that night. We didn't have a single bite. Too many boats on the lake. We'll try a quieter spot next time.

Bellezza - It's was a lovely day! I'm looking forward to several more this summer.

Iliana - It just doesn't get any better. Well, actually being on the lake in a boat would be great. :)

Nat - The storms held off, which was a relief. I was scanning the sky quite a bit, though. It's been such a stormy summer! We had another thunderstorm last night. Thankfully, no tornadoes. At least my yard it nice and green. The lawn has never looked so nice in June!

  12. I hit your website today - what a pleasure! I am looking for the title and/or the author of a book I read several years ago. I am hoping you or your fellow bloggers can help. The story is about a busy city family of four that goes to a lake or beach house. It is the Dad's birthday I think and they go out for a sail to celebrate. A storm rolls in and they "lose" their teenage daughter. Presumed drowned, she has actually run away and is living with an artist in the local area. She is a wanna be artist and her family doesnt approve. They close up the house and dont return for quite some time. When they do return it is because their son is going to die and asks to go there. After they arrive they begin to find clues that she is still around - a certain flower is left on the porch, an unfinished bench she and her Dad were building is finished. I don't remember what the cover looked like. I feel like the title had either the word Flower or the specific flower (like iris or lily) in it. I feel like the title may have had the girls name in it too. Something like "Flowers from Emily" ....Does this story ring any bells?

  15. cmontalvo - Sorry! Doesn't ring any bells with me. Maybe someone else will chime in, though. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Sheri - I'm just about to post my review. Stay tuned.

Heather - Yep, we've got that relaxin' thing down pat! :) It was a great day. We've had a couple of very nice weekends. Makes going to work a little tough, though.
