A Month in Summary - May '09

Well, here we are. I have just recorded my worst month of reading ever. Perhaps a more appropriate title for this post should be "A Month in Summery!" If you read this post, you'll understand why I haven't done much in the way of getting through the towering stacks of books in my house. However, my house & garden look lovely!

So without further chatter, here are the stats.

The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn (4/5)

The French Gardener by Santa Montefiore (DNF)

  1. I read 18 books in May and my house and garden look like crap. There's definitely a correlation.

  2. You take the most gorgeous pictures, Les! Your gardens are beautiful and I loved seeing more of the outside of your house.

  3. Wow, you've been busy! And your hard work definitely shows -- your garden is gorgeous!

I need to get back into the reading and blogging groove myself. It's hard to keep up with everything during the summertime!

  4. At least your wrap up was easy to do!

  5. Your garden is so lovely - I'd love to sit on that little bench next to the little girl statue. Who knows, I may not get that much reading done either just marveling at nature :)

  7. Those are great pictures! Sorry you had a slow reading month, but you have a lot to show for it. :)

  8. Lovely yard - all your time and hard work are showing. Now comes the best part - sitting outside and enjoying the beauty while sipping lemonade and reading. Oh, and moving the sprinkler! And bbqs with family and friends. Delightful stuff!

  9. Nancy - I suppose there is, but I'd like to try to squeeze a few more books in than I have in recent weeks! Time to enjoy the pretty garden and sit on the deck and read.

Janet - Thank you!! It helps to have such a good camera. The flower beds are really coming along nicely this year. We've had so much rain! It's felt more like the Pacific Northwest than the Plains! Of course, as I say this, we are heading into the hottest day of the year. Supposed to be about 107 with the heat index. Ugh.

Ruth - Thank you! I've ignored my yard for the past few years, but decided to add a bunch of annuals this year and I'm glad I did. The colors make me smile. :)

Good luck with balancing your summer activities. It is difficult, isn't it?

Lisa - There is that! :)

Iliana - Thank you! You probably wouldn't want to sit on that bench. It's a bit rickety. ;) I'm toying with the idea of putting somewhere else in the yard and replacing it with a nice, comfy bench with a back. Then I could sit in it!

Diane - Thank you. It's looking it's best right now, thanks to all the rain we've had. Check back with me in another month or so when everything is looking tired and hot.

Kailana - Thanks! I shouldn't complain about my reading, or lack there of. I've had fun in my garden. It's all about balance, right?

Booklogged - Thank you, thank you. The work is just about finished and I'm ready to sit back and enjoy my efforts. I'm hosting book club tonight and I'm happy everything will look nice. Of course, we'll all die of heat exhaustion since it's supposed to be close to 107 with the heat index. Sigh.
