Giveaway!

And the winner is... Beachreader! Congratulations!

I would like to offer my beautiful hardcover copy of Wench to one of my visitors. You don't have to have a blog to win. Just leave me a comment, telling me what your favorite book is so far for 2010. Since this is a hardcover book (and, thus, more expensive to ship), I'm going to limit the contest to residents of the United States. Be sure to include your email address! I will select the lucky winner on May 16th.

I'm disappointed - I'd heard good things about this. Favorite book so far - would have to be a toss-up between Hunger Games and Roses.

  4. This looks like a really great book and I would love to read it! The best book I have read so far this year is.....Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok. Just finished it and loved it. Thanks for the chance!

  5. I have such a hard time naming my favorite read. It's always the last book I read, unless that was a really bad one. I guess The Help. Though I recently completelly enjoyed, Bite Me: A Love Story, which is not even remotely like The Help. See. I'm confused.

  6. First one that came to mind was Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Fantastic historical fiction.

    Great giveaway!

My favorites so far are Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English by Natasha Solomons (comes out in June, I think you would love it), The Help (thank you again!), and Waiting for Columbus by Thomas Trofimuk.

    Happy Mother's Day Les!

I have been wanting to read this one.

I just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks earlier in the week and that is definitely one of my favorites of this year thus far.

  9. My favorite book so far this year is the amazing "The Lonely Polygamist" by Brady Udall. It is the story of a man with 4 wives, 28 children, and a big hole in his life.
Don't put my name in the running for "Wench", because I already won one from you this year - "Mudbound", which was also a very good read. Thanks Les!

  10. Don't add me to the drawing, but I keep coming back to Postcards from a Dead Girl by Kirk Farber as my personal favorite. I liked it because of the quirkiness. I'm not sure it would be your thing, actually. Flyaway by Suzie Gilbert and Dave Barry's new book are another couple of favorites (both nonfiction). And, Rumor Has It by Jill Mansell -- I always adore her books.

  14. This book looks like just the thing for me after a string of fat non-fiction books. One of those is my favorite so far this year, Parisians by Graham Robb. Great historical anecdotes about a Paris you never guessed was there.

  15. Thanks for all the wonderful recommendations! I've already read some of those mentioned, but have added several more to my TBR list.

My husband drew the winning name and Beachreader/Maudeen is the lucky winner! I'll get the book off to you later this week, Maudeen. I hope you enjoy it!
