Spring!

The year's at the spring,
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;

The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his heaven--
All's right with the world!

Song from Pippa Passes
Robert Browning

  1. I think we went from winter to summer already. We had a record high of 88 here yesterday. I like warm weather, but even I think it's too early.

  3. Beautiful pictures! Is it that nice where you are? Seriously, daffidils?

    One of my favorite poems.

  4. We aren't there yet, as I'm sure you know. Spring comes slower here, but it is still in the air, and in the little shoots of day lilies and chives I see. I've been raking and dreaming of this year's garden. :<)

  5. Yay!! Though we're almost to summer. The heat is starting to scare me a little bit.

    What is the yellow flowering bush and the pink flowering bush? Gorgeous!

  8. Kathy - We hit a record today, too. I broke down and turned on the AC a few minutes ago. I need to sleep and it was too hot, even with the windows open, last night. I like warm weather, too, but we need to ease into it. I'm a little worried it will be a 100+ degree summer...

    Jenclair - Thank you! Shhhh. Don't tell anyone, but these are all pictures from a few years ago. The yard looked exactly like this a week or so ago, so I figured it was ok to repost the pics. :)

    Raidergirl - Yes. It's absolutely gorgeous here right now. Might even be a bit hot. The daffodils are almost finished. The tulips are blooming, as are the lilacs. Lilacs in March!!! Crazy, crazy weather!

    Nan - I know you're always a little bit behind us, but I wonder if spring will arrive early in your neck of the woods, too. My bleeding heart is even up and about to bloom! I can't get over it. My jaw dropped when I saw the lilacs blooming today.

    Trish - The heat is beginning to worry me, too. I hated to do it, but I had to turn the AC on today. Between the heat and my hot flashes, I'm not getting much sleep! Fingers crossed tonight is better. I was awake at 2:00 last night and never fell back asleep. Thank goodness I had the day off. I didn't nap, but at least I didn't have to interact with any customers (or co-workers!). ;)

    The yellow shrub is a forsythia. Always the first to bloom. The pink tree is a star magnolia. Both are so pretty in the spring and very lush and green until late fall.

    Kelly - I suspect you and Nan are close in latitude and have later springs and earlier winters. It's been nice saying an early goodbye to winter, hasn't it?

    BTW, I've been enjoying all your music posts. I plan to comment on them later this week. Just keep running out of time!

    Staci - Me, too! I got a few perennial beds cleaned out yesterday and still have quite a bit to do, but it's looking nice and tidy.
