    1. I agree, Diane. We had a heavy rain the night before and yard was glistening with raindrops.

    1. Me, too! Last year I had red hibiscus. I like both colors for these particular pots. The foliage is such a dark green!

    1. They do remind me of Hawaii and the Caribbean (and San Diego)! I wish I could keep them growing here year-round. They're basically tropical annuals in Nebraska.

When are you leaving for Hawaii? I know you'll have a blast. Guess I could check your blog and see if you've mentioned it. ;)

    2. July 14th!! We are really excited but still nervous about the lengthy flight and nasty time difference for Elle.

Also...was just leaving Ms. Kay a comment and realized SHE'S IN TEXAS TOO! Party time??? ;)

    3. Wow! That's just around the corner! I'm excited for you guys, but understand the concern about Elle and the long flight. Benadryl, maybe? She'll be ok with the time difference over there, but coming home will take a few days of adjustment.

That's right! Kay's near Austin. Maybe we could all meet up down there next year. Hmmmm....

    1. I would have to agree, Nancy. I love these plants. Unfortunately, they're annuals in Nebraska. We had them growing all over the place in San Diego.

    1. Hibiscus. I love 'em! As I mentioned to Trish and Nancy, they're considered tropical annuals here in Nebraska. We had them year-round in San Diego, but the harsh winters aren't conducive to their happiness here. Some folks move them inside during the winter, but we don't have enough southern facing windows (the porch creates a lot of shade on that side of the house) and the pots are super heavy to move, anyway!

  9. Gosh, I've read about them in books. Like wisteria, I've never seen them for real.
We had the same porch problem when we bought our house. We took it down and made a terrace instead. :<)

    1. I love my porch too much to give it up for more sunlight. It really isn't too bad. Certainly not dark. Especially now that I've had the windows washed. ;)
