:: Right Now ::

Right now, I am...

:: feeling grateful for the cooler temps that greeted us this weekend. Yesterday, it was 66 degrees with cloudy skies when we headed out for our morning walk with Annie. We didn't even mind the heavy downpour that caught us unprepared. Felt like Oregon! Today is looking just a nice. Current temp: 60!

:: contemplating either a bike ride or a long walk.

:: continuing to feel excited about hand-selling The Homecoming of Samuel Lake by Jenny Wingfield. Can't quote numbers, but let's just say it's A LOT!

:: enjoying the lazy summertime feeling our weekends have taken on. Coffee on the deck before breakfast at 10 am. We don't like to rush things!

:: looking forward to an evening with good friends, delicious food, wine and laughter.

:: anticipating the arrival of one very special granddaughter. Two full weeks with no traveling on my part! Nice change from last year's visit.

:: wondering how many ice cream shops my husband will want to visit with a certain 10-year-old granddaughter.

:: hoping to get in some long walks and bike rides to work off said ice cream.

:: eager to get back to Lisa Genova's latest novel, Love Anthony. I started it last night and read 50 pages before turning out the light. So far, it's wonderful!

:: wishing I could read faster. I'm anxious to dive into Broken Harbor (Tana French), Off the Grid (P.J. Tracy), The Light Between Oceans (M.L. Stedman) and Sharp Objects (Gillian Flynn).

:: happy to wash dishes, vacuum and iron shirts so I can listen to Ready Player One (Ernest Cline) on my Nano. What a great audiobook! Thanks for the recommendation, Trish!

:: sorry I didn't think to get tickets to see Crosby, Stills and Nash at the Pinewood Bowl this month.

:: pleased with a delicious new salad recipe from the Home Cooking with Trish Yearwood cookbook.

:: proud of my daughter's culinary endeavors. "Amy Bars" are now available for purchase at Bolsa Mercado in Dallas, TX!

:: having fun with the Photoaday August challenge. I've missed messing around with my camera on a daily basis.

:: listening to my dog chase rabbits in her sleep.

:: thinking about the wonderful movies we watched this weekend. I highly recommend Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Unmistaken Child, the latter of which is quite thought-provoking.

:: happy for my 3-day weekends.

:: looking forward to more "mild" summer days. We had the windows open for the first time in weeks!

    1. I'm trying to carve out more time on the weekends (during the day) to get in some reading. 15 minutes each night just isn't enough!

I'm sure lots of pictures to share in the coming weeks. Can't wait to see our granddaughter!

  2. What a wonderful list! Your list of books to dive into looks very similar to mine. While you were enjoying "Oregon Weather" it was 102ยบ here over the weekend ;-)

Good to hear you're enjoying Ready Player One - it's out of my usual comfort zone but both The Hubster and I really enjoyed the audio.

Love seeing that you're doing Photo a Day. I've been having a ton of fun with it for several months now. Where are you posting your photos? If you're on Instagram I'd love to connect with you there - I'm there as SuziQoregon.

    1. Thanks, Julie. I've always enjoyed Amanda's "right now" posts and thought it might be a nice alternative to a "Sunday Salon."

Wow! 102?! I guess it's about time the West Coast shared in the heat wave. ;)

I'm just about to finish up Ready Player One and I'm going to be sorry when it's over. What a creative and FUN book! I think I'll be able to handsell quite a few copies at work.

I was going to post my Photo A Day pix at the end of the month, following Trish's example, but I've decided to break it up into once a week. I'm just not organized enough to post them every day. (Although, I did post a picture a day a few years back on my photoblog. That was before I started working these longer shifts.) And, yes, I'm on Instagram, but haven't posted anything yet. I need to spend some time messing around with it before I go "public." ;)

  3. Oh how I love these posts... everything about them. Savoring the weekends, ice cream, new babies, visits with the grand daughter and cooking... they all sound great to me!

Oh I was going to mention as well another photography book by Tracey Clark is called Expressive Photography - shooting from the heart http://amzn.to/O3txm4 It's very inspiring!

What kind of camera are you shooting with? I may have another recommendation for you!

    1. Thanks, Kristen. I had fun with this post and may have to make it part of my routine, such that it is!

No new baby. I was just referring to the arrival of my 10-year-old granddaughter. :)

Thanks for the book recommendation. I glanced through the other at work last week and may have to get a copy. It's wonderful! I have an Olympus E410. I really need to read the manual and learn how to use all the various functions. My old Canon AE1 was so much easier to use!

  4. Wow what an incredible list! You are a blessed woman! :) I used to make a list like this about 10 years ago and really enjoyed it. I think I did it daily (I wonder where that calendar is), but I quit because it became a chore. :(

Congrats to your daughter! How exciting (and yummy looking)!

I'm listening to Broken Harbor now and am enjoying it. I don't have Love, Anthony but really look forward to anything Genova writes. Have you read Castillo? (Sorry, I don't remember.) I'm looking forward to Gone Missing as well as others you mentioned. I'll see what you think about the Ocean one, though.

    1. Thanks, Joy. I am blessed, but I could make a list of complaints just as long. I just try not to focus on the negative. ;)

Yes, those Amy Bars are divine!!

I should download Broken Harbor to my Nano. I've hit an audiobook slump since I finished Ready Player One.

Love Anthony was FANTASTIC!! It's as good, if not better than Still Alice and Left Neglected.

I've only read one by Castillo, so I should probably read the others in the series before I read Gone Missing. Hmmm, maybe I'll try the second one on audio...

    2. Better than Still Alice?!?!? Oh my! My heart has skipped a beat. I can't wait! :)

    3. Maybe... As with Still Alice, the reader really gets to see what it's like to be the person with the condition. In this case, autism.

I love your right nows and just know that you're going to have a wonderful two weeks with your granddaughter. I'm sure lots of ice-cream is in the future! 1. Aww, thanks, Staci. I try to focus on the positive. There are days, though, that would fill a page of negativity, if I were so inclined. ;)

So far, no ice cream, but the temps continue to be cooler. I think fall will arrive early this year. Fine by me, but after that comes winter. Could be a nasty one, I think!

  7. I LOVE that picture of your granddaughter! The light (energy) in her eyes is simply stunning. And that cute little mischievous look on her face. Love.

And Bolsa Mercado?! I need to seek out those Amy Bars!

    1. Thanks, Trish. I love that picture of Shay, too. She's so photogenic, always happy and smiling. That was last year. I'll have a ton to share from this visit. ;)

Hope you get a chance to try the Amy Bars. They're delicious!
