Dewey's Read-a-Thon (2012)

Husker bye week.

Rain in the forecast.

Four new novels by great authors and a collection of poetry.

It's been two years since I participated in a read-a-thon and I'm really looking forward to spending the day curled up with a stack of books. I can't remember the last time I read for more than an hour in a single day. Maybe while traveling? In any case, I'm ready to begin Dewey's 2012 Read-a-Thon! Are you planning to join? What's in your stacks? More importantly, what flavor ice cream do you have to boost your energy. ;)

  1. I have Barbara Kingsolver's Flight Behavior delivered today for the TLC Book Tour in November, but it's not on my list for the read-a-thon. In fact, invariably, I've committed part of the day to others. My mother and I are going to a local shopping place (dare I say 'mall'? Ew! It's outside and lovely) as my husband's birthday is next week and who knows what to get him. I'm off on a search. Hopefully, I'll read around that time, and what I really need to do is finish Anna Karenina. For the discussion I'm leading on it this Wednesday.

    1. I haven't read Kingsolver's previous novel (The Lacuna), but this one sounds like it might be good. One of these days I'll re-read her earlier works. I loved The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven, as well as The Poisonwood Bible (with the exception of the final chapters).

Glad you had a fun day with your mother. Yep, I'm not a big fan of malls, either.

  2. I am joining in and can't wait. This will be #7 for Sam (my son) and I. I am still putting the book stack together -- Sam has his done. The food is purchased but alas no ice-cream for us. We tend towards the chocolate candy and salty chips type snacks.
Have fun--your books look great. :)

  3. I had to look up the word 'husker.'
Not doing the readathon. Maybe someday. Have fun!

    1. ;) Should've said Cornhusker, eh?

It was a lot of fun spending the day reading. I rarely ever do that anymore. And, I still managed to get some housework done, go figure! I'm hoping for a repeat next Saturday. :)
