Hmmm. I'm not sure why, but I think I actually did better in August (which felt busier) than in September. October's list looks good, so I'll continue to try to capture a moment every day. Go here for more information about this photo challenge. Click here to see my pictures for August.

16. Strange
Looks like a dog, but it's actually just a pile
of Annie's fur after her evening brushing!

20. Man-Made
I couldn't limit this to one shot.
It's the twin bed frame that
my grandfather carved for my mother
when she was a little girl.
It was her bed,
then mine, then my daughter's.
It's difficult to see, but engraved at the foot
of the bed is my mother's name.

I think your pictures are great! Your Cornhuskers are doing better than my Hokies. It's gonna be a loooong season for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! Yep, the Huskers are having a decent year, thus far. We'll see how they do this weekend against Ohio State!
DeleteFun. I keep failing at this meme....
ReplyDeleteIf I had to post a picture every day (on the actual day), I'd fail miserably. It's about the only challenge I haven't failed on! ;)
DeleteWhat a delightful idea, Les. Did you think it up or is it a meme? I particularly love the dog hair!
ReplyDeleteNo, I discovered it from another blogger.
DeleteIsn't that pile of dog hair amazing?! I hope she stops shedding pretty soon. You'd think she would since we're about to drop into the low 30s/high 20s!
nice- Amy looks happy! (and that pile of fluff certainly qualifies as strange!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jill. She's very happy and very busy!
DeleteYep, that's one weird pile of dog hair. ;)
This is a brilliant thing. I do so love seeing the monthly photos. Let's see - first, all that HAIR! Whew. I see a lot around my house but not in such neat piles. :<)
ReplyDeleteThe bed is so very special.
Wish I liked beer since I love the bottles and names.
As for coffee, a cheap and easy and wonderful and Jean and Lionel alternative is a Bodum cafe press.

Thanks, Nan! It's been a lot of fun trying to come up with something creative for each day.
DeleteIsn't it amazing how much Annie sheds? Almost every day?!
Yes, I love the bed. I hope to pass it on to Amy when she has children...
Thanks for the info about the coffee maker. Unfortunately, I don't think I can pry the Keurig away from Rod's clutching hands. He loves it as much as I do (and it was his birthday gift a couple of years ago)...
These are all wonderful! What a priceless treasure the bed is!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debi. Yes, it's a beautiful bed with great sentimental value. It must be close to 75 years old!
DeleteLove these! Annie-dog is obviously a camera favorite - even if she is camera-shy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andi! Yes, Annie-dog is a great model, in spite of her shyness. Actually, if I use my phone camera, she isn't quite as "concerned." ;)
DeleteAh, Leon's! I miss Leon's and Ideal. Omaha has some similar kinds of stores but they are all so far away from us. I keep thinking a Leon's-type store would be a big success in west Omaha.
ReplyDeleteOK, so you live in Omaha but you used to live in Lincoln?!? I didn't realize that! Yep, Leon's is great. We live around the corner (up the street from Sheridan Elem.) and it's wonderful to be able to take a quick walk to the market for last-minute items. It's a bit too pricey for our weekly shopping, but we try to shop there at least once a week. I would hate to see it disappear.
DeleteWe don't shop at Ideal very often. I believe the guys who own Leon's bought it earlier this year.
I'm so glad you're doing the photo a day thing too. I have such fun with it. I have lots of folks I know who are participating now and it's fun to see the different interpretations of the daily prompts.
ReplyDeleteThat bed is a treasure!!!
I'm not doing as well with the list for October, Julie. I'm hoping to get out with my camera this afternoon, so we'll see how it goes.
DeleteYep, that bed is very special to me. I hope someday Amy will need it for one of her children...
I could have sworn I commented on these! Love your photos! The pile of Annie's dog hair is hilarious and Amy and her boyfriend are totally adorable. The headboard is an amazing memento! And, I love what you did with the "natural" prompt.
ReplyDeleteThanks, my dear. You've been busy, so no worries. :)
DeleteYep. We have quite a bit of dog hair around here. Time to brush her again. Probably should've done that before running the vacuum cleaner yesterday. Oh, well. ;)
I agree. Amy & her honey are very cute and suit each other so well. Can't wait to see them next month...
I was just thinking about that headboard (there's also a footboard with my mom's name engraved in it) and all the states it's been to. Oh, and it's been to Canada, as well! I think it's only been broken once in all the moves.
Glad you like the "natural" shot. Wish I could say I enjoy that stuff, but I prefer Splenda in my coffee and have the other on hand for guests. Or when I'm feeling like I should do better.
Fantastic shot of a monarch as your header photo!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your sweet Mom left me a comment when I did a book review on "Sailing Alone Around The World". I didn't know that your husband had written a book about that book! Wonderful to know!
Thanks, Kay! And thanks for letting me know about your book review for Sailing Alone Around the World! I hope you get a chance to read Rod's annotation of Slocum's book. Would you like for me to send you a signed copy? I'd be more than happy to.
DeleteOhhh so sorry your Huskers didn't win against Ohio State. I was rooting for them.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness that's a LOT of dog hair!!! I did think it was a dog on its back at first glance! Wow!
Keurig!!! We've had ours for years and years now and have even taken it on ski vacations with us! :)
It was an ugly game, Joy. Hopefully, they'll do better this coming week against Northwestern!
DeleteYes, it's quite a lot of dog hair! You'd think with all the brushing I do, there wouldn't be any left to get on the couch, chairs, beds, or stove top! ;) It really is everywhere, but at least it will slow down (the shedding, that is) in the next few months. That is, if we actually have a cold winter.
I'm thinking about getting a small Keurig to keep at work for a quick cuppa. I know I should buy coffee from our cafe, but I love the convenience and flavors of the K-cups.
I so loved all of these! I'm glad that my dog isn't the only one that sheds!! But I did think that it was a shredded toy at first!! Looks like you all enjoy your beer this time of year. I know I certainly do!! Yum on the Keurig machine too!
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm glad you enjoyed them. Yep, shedding just goes with the territory of owning a dog, doesn't it? I know there are some breeds that don't shed as much, but we love our Annie girl and don't mind (too much!) that she's fluffy.
