We were much more impressed with Crazy Horse than the presidents at Mount Rushmore. I wish I could live long enough to see it when it's finally finished.
We went and saw this when I was a kid and it wasn't much more than that hole under the arm. Forty years later, it some ways it seems like it's come so far but if you think of the whole, there must be a hundred years' more of work to be done!
It's really quite amazing that it takes so long to create something like this. The sculptor is deceased, but his wife and children are still alive and very much involved in the project. They don't accept any federal funding, so it's going much slower than it might otherwise.
Wonderful! I don't recall seeing this when we went to the Black Hills but I was very, very young. I do remember Mount Rushmore. Maybe we missed Crazy Horse.

I understand about commenting with an iPad, believe me! I've finally gotten used to Bloglovin' and have it on my iPad and desktop. I usually send myself an email with the link to a blog I want to comment on when I read it on my iPad. Sure feels good to finally get caught up on all of my blog hopping!
So glad you were able to see this! Even though it is FAR from complete I agree that it's also more impressive than Rushmore. I hope that the monument can be finished one day...Seems they've slowed the work considerably.
