Gratitude Lately

Lately, I've been thankful for

Safe landings on windy runways

New (to me) restaurants in airport terminals

  Goofy mascots welcoming me back

Peaceful mornings at Mom's
in Little Whale Cove

Oceanfront hotels with million-dollar views

Early morning walks with only the seagulls

Crashing waves against rocky cliffs

Rooms with views and a delicious Cab

Mornings with nothing to do
but gaze at the sea

Fish tacos and rainy afternoons

Favorite brews in new restaurants

And, in-flight programming on flights home.

Happy Sunday, friends.
What are you grateful for this week?

    1. It was lovely, JoAnn. This was my first trip alone with my mom and we had such a nice time. Very good seafood, beautiful scenery, and lots of great conversations.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Kay.

Speaking of perfect spring weather, you'd get a laugh out of ours. It was 82 and beautiful on Saturday. Sunday, we awoke to showers (we got 1 1/2 inches), followed by a drop in temps down to 32, followed by snow showers. It's currently 28 degrees! Sigh. ;)

  5. Looks like you've had a great trip! Right now I'm trying to be grateful for all of the rain we're getting today. I know we need it but I sure don't appreciate the cold that came with it!

    1. It was a wonderful trip. I do so love Oregon!

Yesterday's rain was wonderful (my rain gage says we got 1 1/2 inches!), but the snow was not at all welcome! Nor were the colder temps. Ugh!

    1. You would love it, Meredith. Lots of beautiful views of trees, mountains and the ocean. And, yes. I had a wonderful time with my mom. It was perfect. Can't wait to head back at the end of May.

    1. It was! We head back at the end of May for my stepdad's memorial. The weather should be lovely by then.

  8. What a great way to look back on your trip! The view at your mom's looks especially peaceful though I could stare out at the ocean for hours. One day I'd love to travel back to Oregon and really explore the state.

    1. We've really enjoyed getting to experience Oregon over the years since my folks moved there from California in the late 90s. As much as I love an ocean view, I love where my mom's house sits, nestled in amongst all those trees and shrubs with the sunlight filtering in through the branches. It's just a short little walk to the bluff, so she really has the best of both worlds.
