February Reading

I read a little bit more this month than I did in January, but one book (Chast's) was a graphic memoir, and I was able to read it on my lunch breaks in just a couple of days. All three nonfiction titles focus on disease and dying; probably not the most uplifting type of books to read in such a sort span of time, but for comparison sake, it makes it easier to decide which I liked better and which I would recommend.

My favorite of the month? I'm going to pick two since they were both very good. The Various Haunts of Men is my fiction choice and Being Mortal is my pick for nonfiction. Reviews to follow, but you can click on the books in my sidebar to read more about them on B&N.

Slow Dancing with a Stranger by Meryl Comer

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

The Various Haunts of Men by Susan Hill

Being Mortal by Atul Gawande

Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant? by Roz Chast

  1. I have the Chast book. Haven't read it yet. Soon. Glad to know that BEING MORTAL worked well for you. It's not a cheerful book by any means, but when I picked it up last weekend, I could not put it down. Also happy that the Susan Hill series is working well for you. Look forward to your review of BEING MORTAL.

    1. Roz Chast's book is a quick read, Kay. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts... I didn't love it. However, I did love Being Mortal. I learned a lot from my reading and hope Rod will get to it, as well.

As soon as I finish listening to The Crossing Places, I'm going to see if I can download The Pure in Heart. I may just have to sign up for Audible.com if my library doesn't have it.

  2. Yeah... I had a really good reading month in February but it was mainly because it was #ComicFebruary and I read a lot for that. I feel like that is cheating and almost feel guilty...

    1. It's amazing how many books you can read when they're comics or graphic novels, isn't it? :)

    1. I wonder what you'll think of Chast's book, Nan. She's quite talented, but I really didn't care for her story. I'll explain in my review...
