Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
I thoroughly enjoyed John Green’s young adult book, The Fault in Our Stars, so when I started hearing a lot of praise for this new “must-read” teen novel, I decided to give the audio a try. It held my interest, but it was far too predictable (and young) for my taste. I figured out the “mystery” very early on and became bored with the storyline, eager to reach the ending and see how the author tied things up. Not a book I’d recommend, but it did help pass the time while traveling.

This one was just okay for me too. I passed it on to an avid-reader teen who declared it "boring," so I'm not sure why it was so hyped.
ReplyDeleteI suspect this is the case of the wrong audience. I'll bet a lot of teens enjoyed it, but not so many adults.
DeleteI remember reading this (in print) over a beautiful summer weekend and really enjoying it. Didn't see the final twist coming and wanted to go back to the beginning right away to see what I missed, or look for clues. Since I don't read much YA, there wasn't much I could compare it with. Have yet to read John Green, though The Fault in Our Stars has been on my kindle for nearly two years.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what part I read that revealed the final twist.
DeleteOh, I think you'll love The Fault in Our Stars! I thought it was fantastic. That and Eleanor & Park. Two wonderful YA books!
I agree!
