  1. It always feels like I'm Alice in Wonderland when I'm in a country where English isn't everywhere. There is something surreal about seeing words that I can't understand. I count on words.

    Here's my Wordless Wednesday.

    1. I was surprised that it was so easy to communicate with the locals when we were in Germany. Of course, the bookstores were another story. Only a small section of English translations. But I liked the size of their books. Smaller than a traditional trade paperback, but larger than a mass market.

    1. This was actually more than one town, Mom. I should go back and label all the different locations...

    1. I thought so too, Colleen. It was fun to see what was on their bestseller lists, too.

  6. That store looks so inviting. When we lived in France, I didn't pay attention to the foreign book jackets like that - I headed straight to the small English section.

    1. Kathy, it was such a comfortable store. And you know what? No loud music. Actually, most of the bookstores I went in didn't have any music playing at all. Very quiet, but peaceful. I wish we could do more of that in the States...

  7. Very cool. We enjoyed going in the Japanese bookstores, when possible, even though their English section was slim pickin's. It's fun to see how different the covers are in another country.
