After sharing all the books I read in 1996, I've come up with the following list of those books (from '96) that I'd like to read a second time:
The Sewing Room by Rev. Barbara Cawthorne Crafton
The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan
Beloved by Toni Morrison
The Rainmaker by John Grisham
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
A Lantern in Her Hand by Bess Streeter Aldrich
Beach Music by Pat Conroy
Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns
A White Bird Flying by Bess Streeter Aldrich
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Gutterson
Range of Motion by Elizabeth Berg
The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff
I don't usually join the Nonfiction November challenge (at least not officially), but I thought it might be fun to read some of the nonfiction books in this stack this month. I've started with Barbara Kingsolver's High Tide in Tuscon. Have you read it? Any others on this list that you enjoyed? Click on the titles to read my thoughts.
I loved 84 Charing Cross Road and enjoyed Like Water for Chocolate but I think that's about it. Not a Wuthering Heights fan. Night is not my favorite by Wiesel but I thought it was good. I think The Gates of the Forest is the one I liked better.
ReplyDeleteNancy, I haven't read The Gates of the Forest, but will look for it at my library. I could read 84 Charing Cross Road every year, it's so good!
DeleteI've loved so many of those books, but Beach Music and 84 Charing Cross Road are the two that jump out. Just starting to think about plans or goals for 2018 and I think rereading old favorites will play a role. Fun post!
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, I plan to reread at least one book every month in 2018. I've been putting it off for far too long!
DeleteI think we might have been reading some of the same books that year! Loved, loved Like Water for Chocolate and 84 Charring Cross Road. Enjoy your re-reading!
ReplyDeleteIliana, there are quite a few popular books in that stack, that's for sure. I had just discovered online book groups at that time, too.
