Looking Back - The Horse Whisperer

Looking Back... In an effort to transfer my book journal entries over to this blog, I'm going to attempt to post (in chronological order) an entry every Friday. I may or may not add extra commentary to what I jotted down in these journals.

The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans
Fiction
Published October 1st 1996 by Dell (first published 1995)
Read in July 1997
Rating: 4/5 (Very Good)

Publisher's Blurb:

His name is Tom Booker. His voice can calm wild horses, his touch can heal broken spirits. And Annie Graves has traveled across a continent to the Booker ranch in Montana, desperate to heal her injured daughter, the girl's savage horse, and her own wounded heart. She comes for hope. She comes for her child. And beneath the wide Montana sky, she comes to him for what no one else can give her: a reason to believe ...

My Original Notes (1997):

Very good, light reading. Reminded me of a Danielle Steele-type novel, yet better. Good summer "beach" reading. Somewhat of a surprise ending, although it worked. I'd like to read more of Nicholas Evans, but this is his first novel, I think. Soon to be a movie, though?? Clint Eastwood would be good with maybe Jodie Foster? We'll see...

Engrossing. Gripping. Moving.

My Current Thoughts:

I never went on to read anything else by Nicholas Sparks, but I did see the movie (starring Robert Redford, Kristen Scott Thomas and Scarlett Johansson), which I remember nothing about. I'm willing to bet that the book was better than the movie.

  1. I remember when this book & movie were all the rage. I actually can't remember if I read the book. I think I did. I know I definitely saw the movie and I probably even cried!

    1. Iliana, I don't remember if I cried while watching the movie, but I know I did while reading the book!
