Kathy, I was thrilled to get some pictures of this sweet little bird. I don't know if it's a male or female, but there was a whole brood (covey) of little ones dashing about underneath the lavender! Maybe this one was standing guard. :)
How delightful! How long did you have to wait to get that perfect picture? You know that there are lavender farms in Central Texas - in the Blanco/Fredericksburg area of the Hill Country.
Kay, these are such sweet little birds, but boy do they move quickly! I was happy this little guy decided to stand still long enough for me to snap a few shots before he ran off to be with his family! I really didn't have to wait very long since they had been running in and out of the lavender all morning. I'll have to look for those lavender farms in the Hill Country. Thanks for the tip!
Lisa, it was a thrill to see this quail and all the little ones running about the lavender fields. Yes, it was very nice to be able to spend a couple of nights in such a beautiful setting. The fragrance was wonderful!
Ericka, it was such a wonderful place to spend a few nights. Very peaceful and very beautiful. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I took a peek at your blog last night and spent close to an hour reading some of your recent posts. I love your blog and have it bookmarked for future readings. Very nice to meet you!
I love it! It looks like she's waiting for someone.

DeleteLove it - we used to have a family of quail behind our fence for a couple of years but they haven't been back for a while.
ReplyDeleteJuli, I haven't seen quail since we lived in San Diego, so this was a treat! I wonder what happened to yours.
DeleteFantastic capture!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Candace. It pays to take the big beast of a camera sometimes.

DeleteI would absolutely love to see a lavender farm (purple is my favorite color). I just think it would be cool to experience all that ... purpleness! :)
