Nan, there is not a beach to walk on from our neighborhood, but we do have a lovely path that overlooks the ocean. Actually, our little cove has a beach which you can stroll on, but it's not flat or long. To the south of us, Whale Cove has a beach, but it's private for only the homeowners there. Further south is a huge, wide beach that one can walk for miles and miles. It stretches from Otter Rock almost to Yaquina Head lighthouse. There are other beaches for walking to the north of us, too.
That path on the bluffs is the best, Nan! I would go crazy walking and walking it if I lived there. Such a gorgeous place and the sound of the sea and crashing waves...it's wonderful. I'd use the path anyway because I hate getting sand into my shoes. Ha!
Kay, I don't mind walking on the beach with shoes because I usually head to the packed sand, which is easier to walk on. With shoes, I don't worry about stepping on jellyfish or bees! However, I do still get some sand in my shoes. :)
Kathy, the other day the ocean was very calm with hardly any waves and the water was very clear and blue. Almost made me wish I could swim in it, although it is VERY cold! I would need a wetsuit!
Lisa, it seemed smoky yesterday morning when I drove south to Newport to do some grocery shopping and the sunsets have been shocking oranges and reds, so yes we are getting smoke, but we're not suffering nearly as much as those in SoCal.
I'm glad you enjoyed the photo of the ocean. It's my happy place!
Diane, isn't it?! This is just south of us at a small little park where people can walk out on a grassy area and watch the whales. There were a couple spouting when we were there flying the drone. If it were our drone and we were confident about flying it over the water, it would've been very cool to get some video of the whales!
Meredith, we have several cozy coves near us and I typically walk to the one in our community almost every day. I've found some pretty sea glass and shells, as well as peace and solitude.
Have I asked this before? Is there a beach to walk on? A path? The two blues are perfect.

DeleteNan, we don't get anywhere near the edge of the bluff! Not only could we fall, but a sneaker wave could hit us.
DeleteJust gorgeous - the water is so blue!

DeleteVicki, I agree. We are so lucky to live here!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are not suffering from the smoke from the fires in Cali.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beautiful ocean!

DeleteI love the coves of the Pacific Ocean, whether they are stateside or elsewhere, few places can give me such peace.
