Time for another Music Monday with Rod. During this period of "sheltering in place," I thought it would be fun to share a personal music video on Mondays. My hope is that some of my family and friends will join in with their own videos for a virtual music tour.
Rest, nature, books, music... Such is my idea of happiness. ~ Leo Tolstoy
Beautiful. And how can it be that this song is new to me?
ReplyDeleteDeb, there are so many versions of this song and some recordings have SO many verses! James Taylor has a nice rendition, as do Eva Cassidy, Joan Baez, The Indigo Girls with Mary Chapin Carpenter. I love it.
DeleteThis song is very nicely done. I'm wondering which version I have heard before. All these singers you mention I love. Also I wanted to answer you here: that it is a small world .... that you used to drive to Big Bear ... we learned how to ski there as kids ... mostly at Snow Summit I think. I havent been back to Big Bear since ... but my folks still live in the same house in Redlands. I'm still trying to see if I can get there ... but traveling is horrible right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan. I especially like Mary Chapin Carpenter's version (she's done it alone and with the Indigo Girls) and James Taylor's.
DeleteAh, I learned how to ski at Snow Summit, too! Probably around 1978. We haven't been back to Big Bear since at least 1992 and my parents eventually sold the cabin, but it was a fun place to go. I hope you can eventually get back to see your folks. I'm so thankful we decided to move in with my mom three years ago after we retired. I can't imagine being far away from her right now, but I know many families are struggling with this frustration. Take good care.
I love this song. I've listened to all of the artists you mentioned perform it (so many of my favorites!). And Rod's rendition is beautiful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLaurel, isn't it a gem? Sending you big hugs right now. xo

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful song. I hadn't heard this before. Another lovely performance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for listening, Iliana! If you're interested, Mary Chapin Carpenter does a great performance of this song with The Indigo Girls. I love their harmonies.
