New Books!

I rarely buy books for myself, unless we're traveling. Whenever we're on a road trip, I love to seek out new-to-me independent bookstores and buy at least one or two books that have been on my list. I love to support those stores! With that said, I rarely receive books for my birthday or Christmas, probably because people don't know what I've read, or what's on my TBR list. This year, I lucked out! My mom not only gave me three books, but she also gave me a gift card. Rather than let that money sit and possibly get spent on other things, I immediately ordered six books on my list. I now have this lovely stack to add to my already-toppling stack of books to read this year. How lucky am I?! Now to decide which to begin with once I finish my current reads.

Thanks, Mom! 💖

  1. I've got Mad Honey on my TBR shelf and am looking forward to reading it. Good for you for splurging on yourself!

    1. Thanks, Helen. I enjoy Jodi Picoult's books and am wondering if this co-written novel will be as good as all of her others. It was fun to splurge on some of these well-loved books!

  2. I thought Foster was a five star read and loved the writing. I am on the library list for another of Keegan's books as well as Mad Honey. Great haul of books! I'm like yu in that I rarely buy a book. The library and a used book store are my go-tos.

    1. Tina, most of the books I bought have had rave reviews, so I'm excited to read them. It will be tough to figure out which one to begin with.

  3. I've got MAD HONEY on my Kindle to read at some point. I'll be interested in what you think about TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW. That one has gotten a lot of notice. Think it ended up being the 'Book of the Year' for 'Book of the Month'.

    1. Kay, it sounds like a lot of readers have Mad Honey, so that's one I'll get to right away, I think. TaTaT has gotten a lot of press, hasn't it? I loved The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry and Young Jane, so I hope this one hits all the marks, too. It won the 2022 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Fiction.

  4. Both Foster and Love & Saffron were 5-star reads for me. My mother finished Love & Saffron last night and she loved it, too. The Emperor of all Maladies, The Light Pirate, and Henry Himself are on my list. I'll be curious to hear what you think if Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow... still on the fence with that one. Enjoy this lovely stack!

    1. JoAnn, I'm tempted to start reading Foster and Love & Saffron right now. I'm well into two huge books and it will be another week or so before I finish those. It's very tempting to take a break and read something quick! I've read Henry Himself but wanted a copy for my "keeper" shelf, but will read it again before I stow it away. I'll keep you posted on the others!

  8. Nice to get new books! Good titles too. I've read past page 100 on Still Life and not sure of it yet but there's quite a lot more to go. So I reserve judgement so far.

    1. Susan, most of these have received high praise and have been on my TBR list since I first heard about them. I hope Still Life is a winner... The cover is so lovely. I notice the absence of quotation marks, which can be frustrating. I haven't read any of her previous books, so we shall see!
