Day One & Two

The short drive down to Radium Hot Springs from Golden was beautiful, and there was very little in the way of traffic on the highway (Hwy 95.) We saw several wildlife warning signs along the way, but, you guessed it; we didn't see anything other than a few birds.

Canyon RV Resort was a very nice spot to stay for a couple of days. Our site backed up to the stream, which was so enjoyable to hear when we were sitting outside (or inside when we had the windows open). The grounds are nicely maintained with lots of old trees and plenty of grass at each site. It was pretty hot and we wound up running the A/C quite a bit.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch (burgers, salad and poutine) at Horse Thief Creek Pub in town before checking in at the RV park.

Our RV is on the left, partially hidden

Funny sign!

Not much privacy,
but a fair amount of space between sites

Tasted so good on a hot day!

  1. It's a bit disconcerting to look at these summer photographs while I listen to Christmas music! As always, I love the photos and hearing about the places you visit.

    1. Lol! It would probably be even more disconcerting to those in snowy weather, Helen. Glad you enjoyed the post. :)

  2. I like Radium. We have been there many times because we used to do a bike ride through there. Did you go over Sinclair Pass? That's coming into town from the northeast side (i think). In springtime, Sinclair Pass often has bears eating dandelions by the side of the road!! We've had to bike past them which is a bit leery but awesome too. Mountain goats too. Pretty pics.

    1. Susan, we didn't take Sinclair Pass but were on it a short ways heading toward the hot springs. We were in the RV and the road got narrow, so I turned around. We came down Hwy 95 from Golden. I can't imagine being on a bike and seeing bears on the side of the road! Eek!

  3. Just beautiful. You really have an eye for composition. Poutine!! I tried some for the first time not too long ago. My son insisted. It was delightful.

    1. Thank you for your nice compliment, Ti. It helps to have a beautiful subject matter to photograph. Yep, poutine is quite yummy. We recently spotted it on a menu but decided to save it as a Canadian treat.
