  1. I commented on this on Instagram, too, but I am so glad you posted this. I am going to look up each of these books and add most to my TBR list!

    1. Helen, some are familiar authors and others are fairly new to me. Jessica George wrote Maame, which I loved. Stedman did such a fine job with A Light Between Oceans. She's long overdue for a new book. Lily Brooks-Dalton wrote The Light Pirate, which I gave 5 stars back in 2023. Laurie Frankel has been a hit-or-miss author, but I'm hoping this new book will be a big hit. I loved This Is How It Always Is. Quindlen, Strout, Berg, and Patchett are longtime favorites.

  2. Wow a new Strout is coming. I have read two of these for PW but I can't say too much. But it's a good list!! I hope 2026 is a great book year!

    1. Susan, I know! I was surprised. I still have three more of her books to read. I had hoped to complete all of Maggie O'Farrell and Elizabeth Strout's books this year, but fell behind. I think I can manage to finish them in early 2026, though. Oooh, I wonder which two you've read for PW! Hope you enjoyed them.

  3. Les, I am very much looking forward to Stedman's book. Loved her first book and was beginning to wonder if she would write anythign else. I didn't know Lilly Brooks Dalton had a new one coming out. I've read The Light Pirate and Good Morning Midnight and liked those. Will add Ruins.

  4. Les, I bet you are excited about this list. Know that several are authors you have really enjoyed. I'm going to make note of a couple of the titles - Anna Quindlen, Elizabeth Berg, and that windmill on the cover of the Stedman book makes me wonder about the setting. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I am, Kay! There are a couple in the mix that may not live up to my expectations (Berg's and Frankel's), but we'll see. I plan to read all of them sometime in the coming year.

  6. Quindlen, Strout, and Patchett's novels are already on my list, but I didn't know M.L. Stedman had a new novel on the way! Last week I discovered Kathryn Stockett (The Help) and Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney (The Nest) also have novels coming out next year. Already looking forward to 2026 reading.

    1. JoAnn, it should be a great year for new books! I snagged an ARC of the Stedman book and plan to read it as my first book of 2026. I was shocked when I read that Stockett has a new book coming out. It's been over 16 years since the release of The Help. I hope my expectations aren't set too high for The Calamity Club.
