My Oregon Trail (Part Three)

Follow me!

We decided to take a day trip north from Depoe Bay to Tillamock, stopping in Pacific City for lunch at the Pelican Pub & Brewery. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a drive along the coast. There wasn't a cloud in the sky! If we'd have packed a beach blanket or chairs, I would've suggested postponing the trip to Tillamock so I could bask in the sun on the beach.

The picturesque drive along the coast on U.S. 101 (north from Pacific City to Tillamock) was breathtaking. Definitely a must-do on our next visit; hopefully, with a hike or two thrown in.

In spite of the filling lunch at the Pelican Pub (burgers and clam chowder), we managed to save room for ice cream at the Tillamock Visitor's Center. Delicious!

Say "cheese!"

  1. I'm really longing to see some ocean and beaches. Luckily it won't be much longer. Enjoying your pictures, as always!

  4. SuziQ - Thank you, my dear. We'll definitely return to the Pelican Pub. And, hopefully, I can convince my hubby that it really isn't that steep of a hike up the cape. ;) I'd even love to walk up to the top of those dunes, just north of the pub!

  5. Sounds delightful. What flavor ice cream did you get at Tillamook? And did you pick up anything in their lovely gift shop?

Your pictures and posts about the Northwest are making me want to visit again real soon. Next year or the next. Fingers are crossed*****

  6. Booklogged - I had strawberry ice cream! I usually get something like pralines and cream or a vanilla with chocolate sauce blended in, but the strawberry looked very good (and it was!). Rod got his usual. Plain old chocolate and vanilla. But his was very good, too. Mmmmmmmmm. Is it no wonder we're on the South Beach Diet now?! ;)

I hope you get up to the Pacific Northwest again sometime soon. I'm sure we'll be back there in a year or two, as well.

  7. I hope the weather co-operates too. Fingers crossed! We finally got out to a park yesterday and I used my new camera outside for the first time. :)

  9. Nat - I'm looking forward to seeing some of your awesome pictures!

Lotus - Me, too! Me, too! Sometimes, I can't believe I live in the middle of the continent, so far away from the ocean.
