October Snow!

Note to my brother, Mark: Please refrain from any snide remarks about your beautiful weather in San Diego. Just know that I have pictures I can post on FaceBook that might embarrass you. Your loving sister, Lesley. ;)

Brrr! It's a little too early for that, isn't it? We've had gloomy, rainy 50's. Kinda depressing even though we still need the rain. Love the picture of the rose and the snow.

  2. Yes, it's far too early! But we've had snow as early as September 29th, so I guess it's not unheard of. It's still cold (currently 33), but I'm hoping that's the last of the snow for a long time!!

  3. It's beautiful, but..snow??? Wow.

  4. Oh, poor Les! I know how much you do not want to see this so early. They are saying 'rain, snow' for here tomorrow. We'll see. The snow tires aren't on yet. :<(

  5. Bybee - I know, I know!! It's already gone, but it's still pretty chilly (39 F).

Nan - Yes, poor me. ;)

  6. Oh, but it's so pretty on the flowers!

  7. Pam - It is, isn't it? Of course, now most of those poor flowers are done for the year. I need to spend some time out in the garden once it warms up again. I have a few large (very large, actually) ceramic pots on the deck that I need to either empty and move to the garage or cover with some sort of tarp so they don't fill with snow/rain and freeze and crack. It's too cold to tackle that chore right now, though!

  8. It's sure beautiful but I'm so not ready for winter yet!

  9. Tammy - Neither am I!! I've been cold all day.

  10. oh my, I want to say "haha" but I really miss the snow! (For a couple days anyway) I moved to Florida from Michigan 3 years ago and the weather here to TOO hot :(

  11. Yep, us too. **Sigh** Drove to work yesterday in what looked like a blizzard.

  12. We have been lucky so far and stayed out of the 'early snowfall' running, but it hasn't been all that warm... I doubt we will hold off much longer!

  13. Snow!!! I'm not ready yet for that season!! But it has been pretty cold here in Michigan lately!

  14. OMG...but it is so pretty! Better you than us :)

  15. Katie - You can have it! I really miss the beach! I'm really looking forward to a week in Florida in December. I know it won't be hot, but at least there won't be snow. :)

Tara - You, too, eh? Sigh is right. We didn't have blizzard conditions, just a gentle snowfall, but it's the cold temps that really get to me. Hard to believe I'm Canadian!

Kailana - Maybe you'll luck out and just get a lot of rain. It drizzled on and off here all day today. If the temps drop much more, it'll be a pretty slick commute in the morning. It's only 37 (F) right now.

Staci - I'm surprised you guys haven't had snow yet. It's coming!!

Diane - OMG is right. It is pretty, but I'd be much happier if it held off until, oh, maybe March. :)

  16. Such beautiful pictures, Lesley!

We got a lot of snow, too.

  17. Oh, your poor little car looks cold.

Snow belongs in the mountains where I can drive for an hour to see it when I want to.

  18. 3M - Thanks. I wish it had been a little brighter out. Actually, I'm surprised that I even took my camera out when we headed out to walk Annie. I was so cold!!!

SuziQ - Screw the car. I was freezing! ;) I am so not ready for these cold temps. I'm hot inside and cold outside and both at work. Nothing like the beginnings of hot flashes in the middle of winter. I'm seriously thinking about Arizona or New Mexico. I've had it with Nebraska.

  19. Those pictures are gorgeous! You don't often see red roses covered in snow. But I can't help feeling like we've been cheated out of fall.

  20. Allie - Thank you so much. Yeah, we don't usually see snow in October. I still had roses about to bloom, in spite of the cold temps. The sun is finally shining today, so maybe fall is returning. We're supposed to hit 60 this weekend. Sure beats the low 30s and all that white stuff. :)

  21. LOL! The disclaimer to your brother was a great way to top this off. Love the pics. Send some of that white shroud down to Texas.

  22. Andi - Yeah, well. He still found me over on Facebook and gloated about the beautiful weather they were having. ;)

No snow this weekend, so you're out of luck. It's a balmy 68!! Got out in the yard and did a little cleaning up. Now I'm ready to read for a bit. Back to Joe Hill's short stories. Yay!

  23. Beautiful shots. I'm not ready for winter yet but an early snowstorm like this is so beautiful and then usually melts off. That's a bonus.

  24. Ohhhh, I love the snow! However, October is for beautiful leaves and sunny, but cool days. (I grinned at your comment to your brother.)

  25. Framed - Thank you. Now that that little bit of snow has melted, most of my annuals are done for the season. Time to do a major yard clean-up before it gets really cold. Yesterday was gorgeous. We hit 75! Today it's in the 60's. Feels more like fall than it did a week and a half ago!

Joy - The leaves are gorgeous right now! Lots of reds, yellows and golds. I'm glad that snowstorm didn't ruin the colors. We're really having nice weather right now. Much more like fall.

Glad you enjoyed my comment to Mark. He got me, though, on Facebook. Always the joker. :)
