Winter Wonderland - Part II

Sunday, February 5th.

Everything always looks better if the sun's shining, don't you think? Annie does.

  2. I know others may think I'm insane but I wish we would get all that snow and then some here in Michigan! This crazy warm winter scares me!

  3. Wow, everything would be shut down around here if we had that much snow.

  4. Oh, thank you for showing me some snow this year! Your photos are beautiful.

  5. Sure, rub it in. LOL

    Gorgeous pics, Les!

The word verification is "hater". Do you think that means I'm behaving badly?

  6. At least I can enjoy winter vicariously through your photos! No winter here this year.

  7. Not fair!!! How come it skipped the Snow Princess in Illinois?! :)

(p.s. Did you like Death in La Fenice?)

  8. These are beautiful photos, Les! We have had only one snowstorm this year - and the snow melted within 24 hours! I would love to have a big winter storm this year.

  9. Goodness does it look cold but I'd trade you! We're in the 30s today and I think it would be much more bearable with a gorgeous setting.

Question--your picture of the daisies with the gorgeous lighting and black backdrop. How?! ;)

  10. Pam - You can have it as long as you take the subzero temps along with it! FREEZING cold this morning!

Staci - I told Rod that I actually like the snow we got, especially since we've had such a mild winter up until now. It's the frigid cold that I dislike so much. Below zero again this morning. We're going to hunker down inside all day. Well, after we make a grocery run. Definitely a good day to stay inside and read. :)

Kathy - Lincoln was pretty much shut down. All events for the day were cancelled throughout the city. Even my store (B&N) was closed all day. That NEVER happens!

Kay G. - Thank you for your sweet words. I have fun with my camera.

Nancy - ;) You definitely need to move north!

Jenclair - I wonder if you'll get any sort of a winter in the coming weeks. It's almost over!

Bellezza - I'm sorry! ;) And, YES!!!! I loved it. I'm so happy your Venice challenge motivated me to pull it off my shelf. I can't wait to read more in the series.

Wendy - Thank you so much. This was our second (or third?), but the previous storm only produced about an inch of snow, which like yours, didn't stick around. We don't typically get this much in one day. Usually an inch or two, maybe followed by another inch or two the next day. This was fairly unusual. With the frigid temps that have followed, we're not seeing much melting except on the walks, driveways and streets that were pretty much cleared on the second day. We're supposed to get more tomorrow and Wednesday!

Trish - Oh, I would be very happy with 30 degrees right about now. It's currently -0.2. Yesterday it was -0.6 when we woke up. I don't think it got above 20. We're going to spend another day inside. :)

Hmmm, the single daisy with the black backdrop was actually shot in the dining room which has burgundy-colored walls. For whatever reason, it appears darker than it truly is. The sun was streaming in that winter day (this one and my current header were shot last year) and I spent the morning wandering around snapping pictures. Don't ask me what the camera settings were. I'm a point-and-shoot kind of gal. Just have a nice camera. :)

  11. That is a lot of snow! They're talking sleet/snow for Dallas. I'm crossing my fingers. :D

  12. Andi - It was a lot, even for us. And they're saying we're going to get more tonight and tomorrow. I hope you get snow instead of sleet! I hate to think of my daughter (or anyone, actually) having to drive in that stuff. Your freeways have far too many tall overpasses that make for nerve-wracking commutes.
