California Road Trip 2019 - Escondido (Part II)

Mark & Ana's
Escondido, CA

We had a fun afternoon hanging out with my nephew, Tim, and his 5-year-old son. Declan has a ton of energy, but he is a sweet little boy and a lot of fun to be around. When Mark got home from work, we all went out to Burger Bench for dinner, followed by gelato at EscoGelato, both located in Escondido. Yummy!

Ana, Declan and Mark.

Declan and his daddy, Tim.

So many choices.
I always get raspberry and this didn't disappoint.

  1. It looks like Declan was a popular fellow! My 32 year old son would appreciate his shirt.

    1. Kathy, he and his daddy (and his grandparents) are all very dear to us. We were so lucky to be able to spend so much time with them on this trip to Southern California.

    1. Thanks, Diane. He's a handful, but very well-behaved and sweet. Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I'm never quite sure how much to share from our travels when we're visiting family.

    1. Iliana, I just adore him. He is so sweet, but is full of energy, which wears me out. :) We love being able to visit our Southern California family and are in the middle of planning another trip down there in April!

  4. What a sweet boy! Love all the pictures of you guys! As to the gelato, wow! I love gelato - a little too much to be truthful. However, I would be very tempted to try the 'Malted Milk Chocolate' flavor - I used to love those malted milk balls. Yum!

    1. Kay, he is a sweet little boy, but he sure can wear me out! Glad you enjoyed the pictures. As I mentioned to Diane, I'm never sure how much I should share of our family visits when we're on these road trips. I like being able to look back on these blog entries as if this were a journal, but on the other hand, maybe my readers don't care to see so many family pictures.

I love gelato, too, but I only get it when we're traveling. I had some of the best I have ever tasted when we were in Germany, but this place was very good, too. The salted bourbon chocolate was tempting, but I usually go for raspberry or strawberry.

  5. I'm catching up here...I think you should always share as much as you want to in your blog. As you said, this is your journal, and your family visits are an important part of your road trips. And Declan is adorable! Those little ones can always run circles around us, lol.

    1. Laurel, thanks for the encouragement. I did decide to skip all the wedding photos, though, since I've already shared so many in my monthly summaries and Wordless Wednesday posts. Yes, Declan is adorable. We get to see him (and his dad) again when we visit his grandparents again in April. Yep! Another road trip to California. From there, we'll head to Utah. Can't wait!
