After five nights in Dunsmuir, it was time to move on. The park was closing for the season and we were the last ones to leave after saying our goodbyes to Lou & Shannon. We took a slight detour to Lake Siskiyou to check out the views of Mt. Shasta, which didn't disappoint. We had an easy drive up I-5 and had no trouble finding the Blue Heron RV Park in Hornbrook. Hornbrook is just 13 miles from Yreka and 6 miles off I-5. However, the last portion of the county road were pretty bumpy. It's paved, but narrow and windy with a lot of rough spots, so we had to take it slow.

We were very pleased with the RV park, which is situated on the Klamath River. The large sites are perfectly level and the common areas include several Adirondack chairs along the river, lots of lawn, and a fair amount of space between sites, although not much privacy. We had a beautiful view of the river and the fall colors were stunning. We fell in love with this park and decided to go ahead and extend our reservation for two additional nights.
