Kathy, I feel for all the small business owners, but it's such a tourist town that if they were allowed to open, I'm afraid we would see a big spike in confirmed cases. At this point, our county only has five!
Things look very quiet! Traffic around here is picking up. Some people don't seem to be taking it too seriously, but I'm still planning to be have groceries delivered or picked up for some time to come. :)
I took these pictures two weeks ago, but it's still pretty much the same, although there are a few more cars along the seawall. People like to park there and eat their takeout food in their cars as they watch the water. All the stores remain closed until at least the end of May, thank goodness. Our grocery store is in the neighboring town and I go about twice a month.
How pretty. I have thought about going out to take some pictures of our town but I've been so busy with work that all I want to do is relax. Unfortunately our State is "opening" tomorrow so I'm sure the quiet streets will soon be filled again by traffic and too many people out and about.
Iliana, it was a beautiful day, but it felt a bit eerie as I walked down the sidewalk, observing all the closed shops and restaurants. I hope those business can bounce back once we re-open the State. I hope Texas doesn't see a huge spike in new cases of COVID, but I'm afraid it's too soon to re-open the country. I know I won't be out and about in Oregon until well after our governor says it's safe. Take care!
It's beautiful but sad to see it so empty.

DeleteMy favorite shopping plaza looks like a ghost town as well; even the Starbucks is closed.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Starbucks is closed! Even the drive-thru?

DeleteAh, your beautiful area. And, yes, it does look very empty compared to when I saw it last. Next year, next year....
ReplyDeleteKay, we hope it continues to stay empty for at least a few more weeks, but I know the tourists are eager to return!
