Quote du Jour

Nehalem State Park
Nehalem, Oregon

What lies behind us
and what lies before us
are small matters
compared to what lies within us.
And when we bring
what is within us
out into the world,
 miracles happen.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. Very nice photo and quote. Hope you are well. I haven't been to Oregon in ages but I do remember the coastline.

    1. Thanks, Ti. We've returned from 11 days of camping (in our RV) at Nehalem State Park, which is just south of Manzanita (and less than 2 hours north of us). It was great to get away and ignore all of the political news for a while. 5 loads of laundry later, I'm still ignoring the news. Hope you get up to Oregon again. It sure is beautiful and we are so lucky to live here! Take care.

  2. Beautiful words and a lovely photo. I see you've changed your header. We have a Class C RV too.

We didn't spend as much time on the Oregon coast as we would have liked. We arrived in April when all the state parks were still closed. Then we got distracted with all the mountain hiking. We made a couple of day trips to Cannon Beach (and drove down 101 to Tillamook) and the Astoria area but that was really it. I'm glad you had a good time on your camping trip!

    1. Jen, thanks for your kind words about the quote & photo. I'm trying to calm my mind for the coming days/weeks/months. Tomorrow will be full of a lot of worry, so I'm going to remember our time in Nehalam and stay calm.

What make & model RV do you have? Ours is 26 feet and nice for 1-2 month trips, but if we ever go full-time, we'll probably get a Class A.

We've lived in Depoe Bay for over 3 years and have yet to explore Cannon Beach! We've been to Tillamook numerous times (boondocking at Blue Heron Cheese French Cheese Company many times) and Nehalem at least a half dozen times. We've also camped a couple of times at Fort Stevens (near Astoria). You'll have to come back sometime and head down toward the southern end of the Oregon coast. Bandon (Bullards Beach) and Brookings (Harris Beach) are both lovely.
