Laurel, it's such a treat to see them. Click on the "Elk" tag at the bottom of my post to see some that we saw at Dosewallips a few years ago. The bull was bugling!
Vicki, it was pretty great to see so many, especially the young ones! There was only one bull in the group, but he wasn't as large as the one I saw a few years ago in Washington. You can see those pics if you click on the "Elk" tag at the bottom of the post.
Susan, they were a little skittish, but they didn't seem terribly afraid when I went outside to get some pictures (from a distance!). There were several young ones, but I did see one bull and a few others that looked like females (cows).
Iliana, they must be used to people, but they were still a little skittish if anyone got too close. I think I counted about two dozen. When we camped in Washington a few years ago, we saw a herd of about 70. Click on the "elk" tag at the bottom of my post to see those. It was thrilling to hear the bull elk bugling!
Lovely place to get away!
ReplyDeleteJenclair, it truly was. We'll probably go back in early spring if it's not too cold.
DeleteBeautiful! So fun to see the large herds of elk.

ReplyDeleteOh my. I almost entirely embarrassed myself. I thought these were a different animal and then I saw your tags. Elk! Haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sight and the surrounding grounds are so pretty too.
Ti, don't feel bad. When they first showed up, I thought they were deer.
DeleteThe elk don't seem too worried there. They must know it's a safe spot. These young right? Wonderful

DeleteThere's so many! Very pretty and they just look like they don't mind being near humans.

DeleteI was going to say what stunning deer but I believe they are elk! 🤦♀️
ReplyDeleteHeather, I thought they were deer at first, too.
