Poem of the One World
This morning
the beautiful white heron
was floating along above the water
and then into the sky of this
the one world
we all belong to
where everything
sooner or later
is a part of everything else
which thought made me feel
for a little while
quite beautiful myself.
~Mary Oliver
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteJenclair, isn't it though?
DeleteI mentioned before that poetry and I do not often jive. I think I am often too distracted to glean the meaning right off. Lack of patience, I guess but these Oliver poems have been speaking to me in a way others have not.
ReplyDeleteTi, I find Mary Oliver's poetry extremely accessible. I'm glad you're enjoy them!
DeleteWhat a wonderful poem. It's a happy thought to think that we are part of this beautiful world.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I am so enjoying Mary Oliver's poetry! Yes, it is a beautiful world, isn't it?
DeleteSo much truth in a few beautifully chosen words. Mary Oliver remains my all-time favorite poet. Her poems always bring me peace. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the Oregon coastal springtime!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, I don't read a lot of poetry, but Oliver's poetry speaks to my nature-loving self. I have four of her books and know that I'll discover new favorites in future readings.
DeleteWe're enjoying warmer temps (mid-50s!) and more sunshine, so I've been working in the yard/forest. Gearing up for our road trip, making piles of clothes, books, etc. to pack up. I've also been cooking a lot of meals to throw in the freezer so I don't have to do a lot of cooking. Take care!
That's so lovely and of course your photo is the perfect compliment! We're planning to be out in nature tomorrow and I can't wait. This reminds me to browse through some poetry myself!
ReplyDeleteIliana, I think I've used this photo a couple of times now. ;) Hope you had a nice time out in nature and that it wasn't too hot.
