West Glacier RV Park - Glacier, Montana

Glacier National Park Road Trip (Fall 2022)
September 11-13, 2022
Naples, Idaho to Glacier, Montana
Daily Mileage: 189
Site: #53 (ideal sites #62 & #102)
Duration: 3 nights
Cost: $72/night
Weather: 70-75 degrees & hazy/smoky

We had a full day of driving, but made time to stop at Kootenai Falls in Troy.

We arrived at West Glacier RV Park a few minutes before the office closed. I had been so excited to see the mountains against a beautiful blue sky, but it wasn't to be. The sky was very hazy from the smoke (from nearby forest fires).

West Glacier RV Park offers full hook-ups, gravel pads (very level), grass (and a few trees), plenty of space between sites, picnic tables, fire rings, free showers and good WiFi. We had 3 bars each for Verizon and T-Mobile. The park is about 1/4 of a mile from the "Village," so I walked there on afternoon to get a few items at the store.

We met two couples during our stay, and spent one evening sitting around our fire ring, chatting over drinks and comparing travel stories.

    1. Deb, we enjoyed it and we were happy when the smoke lifted on the east side of the park. On our current trip, we drove a similar route (on our way up to Canada) and it was fun to see some familiar spots. Yes, Montana is spectacular. If you get up that way, try to go into Alberta, though. It's even more amazing!

  2. Glacier National Park is stunning! Too bad the weather wasn't perfect, but it looks like you had a wonderful time in spite of it.

    1. Helen, I hope we get a chance to return and spend more time exploring GNP. I'd like to go on a few more hikes there. Maybe on a return trip to Canada... :)

    1. Iliana, I hope you get to visit this park someday, too. The photo of the rocks is one of my favorites. I love the reflection of the trees in the water.
