Day Two
I enjoyed my morning coffee and walk, keeping an eye out for wildlife across the river. The campground was very peaceful with lots of birds singing and the sounds of campers cooking breakfast or sitting around their campfires, sipping coffee. The sun was shining and the sky wasn't as hazy as the previous day. The only wildlife of note was a small herd of mule deer across the river. Still no bears or moose.
While Rod worked on his manuscript, I joined Lou & Shannon for a trip into Canmore (10 minutes from the campground). We wandered around town, poking in and out of the shops before stopping to get lunch at Grizzly Paw Brewing Company. Canmore is a vibrant, walkable town with great views of the surrounding mountains. I loved spending time there, eager to return with Rod.

I'm combining my comments for day one and day two here. What a stunning place! The campground, the surrounding area... it's all so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd the town?! Love it. flower boxes, indie bookshop (and cafe), the craft beer. It looks like such a special place.
Helen, we really enjoyed our time at this campground and wandering around Canmore. It's a place I'd love to re-visit. When we travel, we always play the game "Can We Live Here?" Canmore would get a yes, but the winters wouldn't agree with us. Plus, no ocean!
DeleteI like passing by the Three Sisters and Mount Rundle too. Iconic mountains peaks. There's a good hike up Chinamen's Peak in Canmore (now called Ha Ling Peak lol) ... that really is high overlooking the town. Being scared of heights, I had to lie down on the ground to look over, lol. I'm enjoying your photos.
ReplyDeleteSusan, those Canadian mountains are stunning, aren't they? I would love to go back and hike that trail in Canmore. If we ever return, I'll let you know and you can join me. :)
