In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
we remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are now a part of us, as
we remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
we remember them.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
we remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer,
we remember them.
In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
we remember them.
From the Rabbi's Manual
we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
we remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are now a part of us, as
we remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
we remember them.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
we remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer,
we remember them.
In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
we remember them.
From the Rabbi's Manual
And on her 26th birthday,
we remember her.
we remember her.

Beautiful. We are thinking of you and sending you our love. Rachel touched a lot of people in her short life. She had a big heart and was a wonderful mother. We will miss her always.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Chris, Jen, Maddie and Emily
May God bless her and may she rest in peace. Sending hugs your way.

Oh, my friend, les. I am weeping at my computer. It is such a tragedy that you must bear, and I'm so sorry. I have no wisdom for such grief, only hugs and prayers. Love, M.
ReplyDeleteShe will never be forgotten by those who love her.

Sweet friend, my thoughts are with you and Rod at this time. I'm so sorry that I couldn't have met Rachel. She will always be remembered by everyone her life touched and by everyone your special life has touched. Gratefully, I'm one of those people. Love to you all.

She's so beautiful, Lesley. My thoughts are with you and your family today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty, that last picture is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThere are just no words adequate enough. I'm so sorry Les and just sending you some hugs.
You and your family are in my thoughts. Your post was so simple, and yet so touching.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is not what I expected to see when I came to your blog today. I had no idea, having just recently "met" you in the book blogging world.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am weeping and I didn't even know her (or you, really, for that matter!!)
Anyway, she's beautiful. Birthdays and anniversaries in remembrance are just such difficult days and my thoughts and prayers are with you today.
Lisa..

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Lesley. She was very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Thank you all for your beautiful, loving comments.
ReplyDeleteIliana & Nat - That last picture is just that... the very last photograph we ever took of Rach. It was the day after she graduated from college, just three weeks before she was murdered.
Oh Les. She was so beautiful and looked so joyous. You, Rod and her beautiful daughter will be in my thoughts. I'm with Nat. I remember sobbing when you announced on The Book Spot what had happened and even now, when I see her picture I get a lump in my throat.
ReplyDeleteDear Les,
ReplyDeleteYou and Rod, and Debbie, and Shaylyn are always in my heart.
Thank you for sharing the photos of Rachel - her personality and inner beauty shine through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. *hugs*

ReplyDeleteSuch a heavy burden for all Rachel's loved ones to bear. I pray the Lord's strength to help sustain you until you meet with her again. It's times like this that words fall short and I have to hope the spirit conveys my hope for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful child, it hurts to imagine how much you and Rod must miss her. My thoughts are with the both of you today and thank you for sharing these wonderful happy photos. God bless you, Les.
